LoooSeR
Kovrov's Kalashnikov MG for assault operations - PRSh. Quote The history of similar machine guns begins in the first half of the 2010s, when Igor Mikhailovich Vasiliev, better known as Nomad, entered the arms service of the FSB of the Russian Federation. At that time, there was an urgent question about the need for an assault machine gun - a weapon that made it possible to conduct long-term, high-power fire in close combat conditions, when working in small settlements, near ambushes in mountainous and wooded areas. One of the areas of work is the development of such a machine gun based on a standard machine gun chambered for a rifle cartridge. Igor Mikhailovich receives a patent for a machine gun made in a short layout (according to the bullpup scheme). The manufacturer was designated “Zenitka”. Subsequently, there is an appeal to another manufacturer - directly to the manufacturer of machine guns of the PK - ZiD family. The topic moves to the R&D level, code “V******”. The developed sample based on the PKP is supplied to the units. The machine gun cannot be said to fully meet the customer’s expectations, and therefore the concept is being developed. Already in the second half of the 2010s, a significantly different model appeared, which received the independent name “PRSh” - Manual Assault Machine Gun. The machine gun, manufactured in an extremely limited series, entered service with the Special Purpose Centers of the FSB and the FSO of the Russian Federation. The machine gun is a variant of the Kalashnikov machine gun, distinguished by a significantly shortened butt, a handle moved to the front of the receiver, a reflector opposite the cartridge ejection window that redirects the cartridges down, a box installed with an inclination in a vertical plane, a forend, a bipod containing front handles, similar to 6P69 barrel with a frame with a Picatinny rail and mechanical sights, a rest for firing from window openings and in similar conditions, a three-chamber muzzle brake, and other ergonomic and design changes.
