Priory_of_Sion
My archaeological professor warned that big news was going to happen Thursday. Info after class: There is no date for the fossil so we don't know for sure where naledi falls in the timeline of human ancestors. It is suggested that it is almost a link between homo and the australopiths, but it could just be a variant of homo ergaster/erectus which wouldn't make this a new species. Meh Also the geomorphology of the cave suggests the remains were placed there which means that whoever put them there needed to see in complete darkness which alludes to the naledi being able to use and control fire which would be big if they were before ergaster/erectus. Donward
Now that Rupert Murdoch owns NatGeo, can we safely report the skeletons are carbon dated back to 4000 BC?
Priory_of_Sion
Now that Rupert Murdoch owns NatGeo, can we safely report the skeletons are carbon dated back to 4000 BC? You'd think so. They think it is ~2.5 mya if I read correctly, but they seem to be just guessing from the morphology of the fossils.
Walter_Sobchak
I just wanted to take this opportunity to say "Homo Erectus" By far the most giggle worthy name in human evolution
ShamefurDispray
I just wanted to take this opportunity to say "Homo Erectus" By far the most giggle worthy name in human evolution It sounds like the title of a porno set during caveman times.
