  1. RUSSIA STRNG Sprut-SD is VDV TD. Khrizantema is pure missile TD.
  2. Although it have magical runes "FCK PTN" which gives +100 attack against Russian Chechen Spetsnaz Armies. "Cage armor" is not reliable.
  3. To hell all that crappy music. Here is one and only Soviet band that people here like to listen even today.
  4. Sorry for late answer, but yes, rifles will be tested further. They only got through first 'stage' - testing by state commission in 2014. Second 'stage' would happen this year, and it will be Army field tests. Currently, both AK-12 and A-545 are not adopted by Russian Army. AK-12 did not got state funding because Kalashnikov screwed up something with documents, but AK-12 was tested by state commission anyway. Development of AK-12 was covered by company funds.
  5. I don't have smartphone, although everybody else in my family does have them. PC is enough for Internet. #reallyoldguy #stupidhashtags #smartphonesfortwitteridiots
  6. More recent events - Rebels assault on Uglegorsk, 3 tanks got hit by AT mines. Ukrainian tank in Uglegorsk.
  7. From 2 weeks ago - Ukrainian tanks counterattack on rebels position after they captured Donetsk airport. This is "Wolfs" tank, it was hit by APFSDS round. Another tank (left part of photo) under Putilovskiy bridge (pretty deep in rebel territory). Tank was moving to Donetsk, and rebels had a checkpoint under that bridge. Ukrianian T-64BV (with "Wolfs" inscription) with APFSDS hit mark. AFAIK projectile did not manage to penetrate, although tank was abandoned by crew, wich was captured later and showed to journalists. http://youtu.be/Hy24ud415-I
  8. Ukrainian BTR-3E hull with new turret and 90 mm gun. Anyway, compared to BMP-1 and 2 BMP-64 have much better frontal armor, that can survive older RPG-7 HEAT grenades hits. Sides are still not very good, although they are better protected than usual "paper+ cage armor". They will need plenty of time to start production of that thing. At least they have a mock-up made before Ukrianian civil war to show! They also use Kontakt-5 instead of their stupid Nozh ERA. #USSRWINS Althoug, they don't have enough of Kontakt-5 to protect their tanks.
  9. http://rg.ru/2015/01/28/avtomat.html Well, according to this information AK-12 was not adopted. Translation with my edits. "......As very informed military-industrial complex expert told us, Kovrov started works on new carabine using AEK-971 as a base (automatic carabine with balanced recoil). Izhevsk just did not had time to prepare relevant documents to obtain public funding for the new machine. Therefore, the AK-12 was created with the money of the company, as people say, "on their own initiative"." "As a result, two samples were presented to the State Commission: A-545 by Kovrov and AK-12 by Izhevsk. All last year they were going trough state trials." "Both weapons showed approximately the same characteristics, although the A-545 had greater accuracy ["groups"]. In December 2014 tests were completed. Both designs got a number of remarks about some problems with them, and manufacturers were required to eliminate them no later than February of this year. In the Izhevsk, according to experts, the elimination of shortcomings still continues." "And even after the decision of the commission, weapons should go through a year of performance test in the Army, which surely will show new challenges for designers. So it is too early to say that the Ministry of Defence decided on adoption of new weapon for the Army." "During the work on the "Warrior" and the new complexes of small arms, military industrialists and Army representatives agreed that the AK-12, and A-545 are transitional designes towards a truly new generation of small arms weapons."
  10. There is only one way to deal with him, 1970-s Soviet style - intrigues between generals news agencies. This may end up as good as T-80U or as bad as T-80.
  11. T-95 also had problems with non-existent side armor. It is like Ferdi IMO - TD for long ranges with crazy frontal armor and mediocre-at-best side armor. At least it have 30 mm autocannon to defend itself from pesky infantry, unlike Ferdi with its 1 and only weapon. Although tankers had enough space to sit in that armored capsule. They had like 30 sm between crewmembers elbows! Dirty capitalists!
  12. Chinese OICW, AFAIK it was addopted to service. The only way to Operate is to wear Boba Fet helmet.
  13. - T-14 will have a new gun - 125 mm smoothbore 2A82 cannon. AFAIK 2 new rounds are developed for it - Vaccum-1 (~900 mm long penetrator per rumors) and Vacuum-2 (DU). Also, it will have new programable HE-frag round - "Tel'nik" and new GL-ATGM "Sprinter". - If you look at T-90M, you will see that it already have lots of cameras and RWS, pretty good thermal imager are in use by T-90A. I want to see a new active protection system, but i don't think they will go for such increase in price of a tank with ERA working as low-price solution. - Suspension will be usual torsion bars, nothing new here. - No info on armor. - Already implemented, if known information is true. - No cannon, sadly. MG/HMG and AGS-type of grande launcher as secondary weapons. - Crew is in hull between frontal armor and turret/ammunition compartment. If crew compartment is arranged in same way as 195's/T-95s, tankers will found themselfs in more comfortable place compared with T-72/80/90. Anyway, T-14 is aimed to be cheaper Object 195. 195's gun worked for 200 shots maximum, after wich it was becoming to prone to destroy itself (pressure was 2-3 times higher than any 125 guns tested before). Also, this vehicle actually had 30 mm autocannon. T-14 is planned to be new T-72, i guess, which can be a erroneous decision for future. I really like idea of arming several elite divisions like Kantemirovskaya with Object 195 tank/TD and rest of Russian army with T-14 "MBT".
  14. Tank usually are getting hit into upper part of hull and turret (turret have higher probability to be hit, even if it is smaller). I have somewhere Israel-made report about that matter, although it is about T-72/62/55 tanks. In case of T-72 almost 70% of hits were turret hits, which is crazy taking into account size of turret. So yeah, lower plates were made to be less protected to save weight on a part that have very low chances to be hit. Which means that transmissions were shot very rarely in general.
  15. Da hell is this? Underbarrel cornershot with pistol attached to some kind of rifle. We need our resident CHINA STRNG to ID that piece of dirty chinese communistic firearms. Note 2 triggers. Is this legal in Land of free? I heard about recent brace legal status shenanigans. SPTSNZ STRNG. This is 12.7x108 mm Kord HMG, i think this is some kind of training.
  16. Funny thing is that Die hard is still well known movie here, in land of free and land of Putin. Chief designer Zlobin f*cked it up.
  17. Not just accepted, but necessary/required in any "cost of tank X vs cost of tank Y" analysis.
  18. Recently those things were tested by our SF. You can see several interesting things, including AS-1 and AS-2 prototypes, AK-104 in bullpup configuration and others. FSB SF unit "Smerch" AFAIK.
