Fairly sure the one I saw from Littlefield had a howitzer of some kind. No brake on the gun.

There are a variety of reasons Sturgeon which I'll try to relay. (Sucks to have to rely on hunting and pecking on my handheld because of the obstacle of firing up, keeping charged and tethering my laptop).
Yeah. The guy comes off as a douchebag. And he's doing stupid and unsafe shit with firearms. The greater sin is that he isn't funny while trying to be while doing stupid and unsafe shit with firearms. You know I'm a fan of Carnikcon and they do stupid shit there too. But it is funny and clever. And that matters. This guy is just a stupid bro.
In a broader context is the type of firearm culture that we want to see promoted. And to me there's too much focus on buying the most expensive shit out there, burning through thousands of dollars of ammo making noise until you break the gun. This comprises so much of current gun culture and gun journalism/YouTube channels that it has become obnoxious.
Using an analogy that I hope Jeeps can appreciate, there's a similar attitude with off-roading/four wheeling. To me a good day four-wheeling is one where you can go out on the trail with your friends, overcome a reasonable number of obstacles and get somewhere with a great view where you can relax with your buddies and have a responsible drink.
Then you have the guys whose idea of entertainment is to thrash their equipment, make noise and rip up the terrain. I find this obnoxious. And expensive. Which is why this sort of behavior is promoted by magazines who rely on advertising by parts sellers who prey upon the insecurities of guys with money who must have the bestest and most expensive toy.
To me gun douchebag is the same. Obviously he is rich and can afford his hobby and has a lot of expensive automatic noisemakers.
Which creates an attitude in the "gun community" with Joe Average that he can't be happy as a shooter unless he is burning through thousands of rounds of ammo on a $10,000 plus gun.
It's the emphasis on stuff and buying stuff and you gotta have the latest stuff to be happy shooting. It creates unrealistic expectations when the real lesson should be that you can have a great time out with your buddies using a used .32 revolver and an old Winchester bolt action rifle. That's not to say new stuff isn't cool and all. But are we really learning about that watching hookers jerking a trigger blasting away at drones?

Thought it was a neat range toy. Very flat trajectory and little recoil, would be fun for silhouette or NRA.

    But for daily carry?

Makarov or a CZ82/83. Maybe a Remington 51 if I could find another.

It was solid marketing, that sold a lot of magazines in the 80's.

Used to have a collection of the more ridiculous/bombastic examples.

Ah, just found a bunch more-

You want these? might be fun to scan in some of the crazy ads/articles for site use.

Went ahead and put together a box of the magazines and some other gun-junk. PM me with an address if you want this stuff.
Moving to Kentucky this week/early next so I will probably be offline for a while in the near future.

I dont see how building schools in Afghanastan and letting women read was a big kick in the nuts for geopolitcal stablity

The same could be said for the middle east in general, if Socailism really toke off and those states were 1/56 as good at warfare as the USSR was we wouldnt see all these Islamist holy war muderfests popping up every couple of years

As for South America, it probably has more to do with it being in the number 1 enemy of communism's back yard

Africa is a cesspool of diesease, murder, and incompendence, it was like that before the Soviet Union and was like that when the Berlin wall was coming down and my fat ass was on a ural heading back to Minsk.

If anything, i point the figure more at colonialism than any other ism for Africa's current state

All the Soviet Union contributed was the fact that your average child soldier's weapon wouldn't jam after he tosses it in the mud

and i think if you want to bring up the whole "well maybe if the USSR didnt give out weapons so much the world would be a better place" argument than you can fuck off back to your grass eating hippie commun. African warlords would be raping an pillaging with Muasers if they had to, and then probably a long stick or their bare hands. People with no other option than violence arent gonna stay peaceful becuase there tank isnt as capable of advanced combined arms maunever warfare as your average T-72

They are gonna be violent because it can still turn on and 100mm HE makes things go boom and most importantly, they dont feel like starving to death, and if they were stuck with panzer 4s they would do the same thing.

Meplat got a reaction from Belesarius in XB-70 Defensive Missile Concept: The Pye Wacket
Think about how the thing would work.  We're talking ~7200 FPS, and a max range of ~80 miles.
An AIM9 is only going around Mach 2.5/2700 FPS by comparison.

All that seeker has to do is get it pointed in the right direction, and from there it's going to be on target so fast there likely would not be much in the way of course corrections.
Better to think of it as a superfast bullet with a skosh of initial guidance, and a VERY brief time to target.

Meplat got a reaction from Sturgeon in XB-70 Defensive Missile Concept: The Pye Wacket
Look at the Sprint missile.  Mach 10 (+) and it looks like a pointy cone.

If the Megafrisbee thing is going around mach 7, it'd hit it's max range (say 80miles) in around .95 minutes.(VERY Approximated math)

Considering it's a one way trip, I doubt the designers gave too much concern to heating issues, as by the time it was seeing real damage it'd probably already have delivered its payload in a pretty terminal manner.

Meplat reacted to Collimatrix in Moscow officials license referendum to restore monument to KGB founder Dzerzhinsky
That's because capitalism is stronger than socialism.

As an American, I don't have warm and fuzzy feelings about the KGB.  To Americans, the KGB were the villains funding many a terrorist group, and trying to install tyrannical dictators in countries that already had perfectly good tyrannical dictatorships.  Certainly the CIA also funded terrorism, although they mostly left that to the State Department.

But the time for American views to become popular in Russia is over.  Russians will not, by and large, take an objective look at their miserable history and decide that they have been ruled by a series of unstable, alcoholic dickbags for the past... three hundred years, give or take, and try something more American.  There was a time when such sentiments were popular, and where such a thing was possible.  The American government blew it.

This should come as no surprise; the American government has been developing incompetence to a high art form since the mid 1970s.  The US only won the Cold War because of capitalism.  Capitalism is stronger than socialism; it was the same lesson learned from the American Civil War.  Benjamin Franklin had pointed out that slavery made no economic sense way back in 1751, to which Southerners retorted that slavery was a form of paternalist socialism, to which the North retorted by burning down their cities because they had a crushing advantage in industrialization.

The American god is a severe, faithless edifice of pure commerce.  He is not like Moloch, who can be quieted by sacrifice.  The American God becomes hungrier the more you feed him.  He is of transcontinental railroads, broken contracts, sixty hour work weeks and sexless hydrogen.  The American God is unstoppable and all who do not worship him will die.  All who worship him will also die.  But he will lead his followers to victory over the faithless, for his brutality is both sufficient and efficient.

At some point, Americans lost faith in their god.  They thought that putting their faith away would make them kinder, but it only made them stupid.  By the mid 1970s they were noticeably weaker than they had been a generation ago, and by the early 1990s they were shamelessly coasting on past glory.  Fat Elvis.  But they had a huge pile of skulls to coast on, so they managed to win the Cold War by default.

But by then, Americans had forgotten how to win any sort of war, or any sort of peace.  They didn't try to re-start the Cold War; it just sort of happened because nobody was trying anymore.  Nobody was trying to smooth things over when NATO bombed Serbia and the Russians weren't even kept in the loop.  Nobody was there to accept Putin's offers of international solidarity after 9/11.  Nobody was watching the Harvard advisers who helped rape and pillage the Russian industrial base.  Nobody cared that the Georgian government was filled with dangerous yahoos who would start WWIII if they thought it sounded nice because the Georgian lobbyists in DC were slick and well-funded.  Americans did pay attention to some punk rock band that wasn't even that good that desecrated a church and was sensibly thrown in prison because church desecration is a black metal thing and not a punk thing.

So it's too late for Americans to have opinions about the Soviet Union.  Nobody in Russia is listening.

    Yes

i personally support it, by finding the KGB Felix Dzerzhinsky greatly improved state scurrility both inside the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and abroad (their jurisdiction was only domestic, but they kept the internationally influential people safe at night)   a dedicated defender of both the Revolution and all the Soviet peoples     what do you think of this news?

Part of scale modelling is hiding or dealing with defects/flaws in the kits.

When you get into building them for others, you can leave a lot of detail off, as long as the customer is happy.
You're creating the artistic impression of the vehicle, rather than a perfect scale model. (I've tried doing that. It's never-ending.1/35 track pins suck.)

He worked with SOE in WWII, and my favorite Christopher Lee moment was when Peter Jackson was taking to him m and trying to describe how he should react  to someone dying from a sword,he was like. "I know what someone having their throat cut sounds like."  On his Service in WWII : "I was attached to the SAS from time to time but we are forbidden – former, present, or future – to discuss any specific operations. Let's just say I was in Special Forces and leave it at that. People can read in to that what they like."

I'm not suggesting using an original kit, rather having it as part of the "whole".

This is similar to mine, save the pouch. The one I have is leather, and the toolpouch is a bit different.
I've also found a sling and a couple magazine/boxed ammunition pouches.
