  1. That should be a mandatory lesson IMHO. It's my experience from watching videos where 'things go wrong' that you can sense the impending 'issue' long before it occurs, the officers often appear to enter the scene like a bull in a china shop.....Bringing extra aggression into a potentially violent situation never helps.
  2. Is it just my imagination or does he pick up a hell of a lot of speed as he rolls at the top of the loop and starts to descend?
  3. They've been on about that for months, but nothing resembling a story has emerged.....Could it be a natural phenomena, IIRC such things have been reported elsewhere (Utrasound/Infrasound something like that)?
  4. Theresa May is just so tame by comparison, you yanks really can do show-business, I'll give you that.
  5. One final thought.....Can I suggest that the very act of drawing handguns automatically increases the risk in an already risky situation, simply by virtue of placing the officer under stress. One has a lot more conversational options while casually cradling a shotgun than one does while staring down the sights of a pistol.
  6. Yup.....They use extending batons as a rule these days. Wiki has a decent listing of current gear and the legal provisions that relate to it, here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_uniforms_and_equipment_in_the_United_Kingdom PS - The article you linked to earlier made mention of 'Beanbag' ammunition for shotguns.....It's my recollection that patrol cars usually carry a shotgun (and possibly an AR too these days?), surely the shotgun could be loaded with non-lethal ammunition as a matter of course? A critical issue is that (IMHO) law enforcement officers should never patrol on their own, they should always operate in pairs, the rest seems pretty bloody obvious to me.
  7. Manning's weird. Ginger-Smallpaws is on a right roll at the moment, is there anyone that he hasn't offended yet? PS - Wait a minute.....Did you say he got good poll numbers for the UN address? F**k me! We're doomed!
  8. I'd call that a pretty bloody big hint. Bravo Russia. You missed a bit.....I fixed it.
  9. It's getting bloody silly TBH.....The Russians are making similar accusations regarding the SDF/ISIS/US in Deir ez Zor, frankly based on current events I've no reason to doubt the veracity of either account. Nauseating. Not only that it's a crap strategy, the gains/blowback ratio is total bollocks.....Fekkin neocons/tories, utter n00bs trying to play the great game (but without even understanding the language that the rules are written in), it's bloody embarrassing to watch.
  10. On the whole I think I'd still prefer to see Tasers (or other less potentially lethal alternatives) being used in these situations, but anything would be an improvement over the current (apparent) carnage (as it is portrayed to me by various media).
  11. That seems slightly 'edited for effect' to me, the end of the sentence appears to be missing.
  12. Well, well, well.....Pipeline: https://www.thecanary.co/global/2016/06/10/west-fake-entire-attack-al-qaeda-oil-pipeline/
  13. This lot seem to have slipped right underneath ANTIFA's radar don't they. It must be a real mental strain to be in the US media environment these days.....Cognitive dissonance much?
  14. Was yesterday the biggest collective face-palm in human history, I wonder? Mebbe you could add one of these dudes to the emoticons, he may be quite useful for the next year or three.
  15. It's like a rite of passage I guess.
  16. Please don't take the wrong message from my comments, my perspectives are shaped by a very different society, as my earlier post should demonstrate.....In an armed society these things obviously have to be handled somewhat differently. Kind of surprised to discover Tasers aren't standard equipment.
  17. I just discovered this: Over 10 minutes airborne and almost 5000ft up on a kite.....Fekk!
  18. TBH only two things have surprised me about these hurricanes: 1 - Nobody has tried to blame Russia. 2 - ISIS have not claimed responsibility.
  19. It was quite startling from my British perspective believe me.....In the equivalent location locally it would probably have been a fella in a tweed jacket with a Labrador asking me nicely not to set fire to the hills and to please take my litter with me (with which reasonable requests I would most certainly comply). This just came up on the Beeb: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-41314562 Thoughts? Could definitely have been handled better IMHO, don't they give your plod Tasers these days?
  20. I actually meant redoing in the UK.....In central London right now, I reckon it would be more or less 'Suicide by Tactical Firearms Group'. I once got (semi-)busted for underage drinking (up a hill in Northern California and I was twenty at the time so I was a bit bloody irritated TBH), in the UK in a similarly rural environment I'd have stuck two fingers up to plod and legged it, but the 9mm on the Ranger's belt completely ruled it out as an option for me in the US.
  21. Jesus that skydiving footage! On a slightly different tack.....When power-kiting goes wrong:
  22. I think they were suggesting that the running off bit is what would get you shot.....TBH I'd like to see how that experiment would go down right now, with an Arab in the offender role and maybe even a shout of "Allahu Ackbar" thrown in for dramatic effect. That might not turn out so well.
