And what T-72s are there in the UK?
Or which T-72s does Rheinmetall own?It seems to me that with Drummond there's always an equal possibility he's talking out of his ass.

The Main Battle System. A TARDEC concept that would move crewmen from the tanks into command vehicles, enabling weight and crew savings over a 4-tank unit of Abrams by 50 percent.

Is a completely new turret or a new rear half welded on?
Since the ammo storage was moved, it would have to be completely new if they wanted to carry a reasonable amount of rounds.
-
It's entirely possible they based the design of the new turret on the old one, but the ammunition is now housed in the bustle. That would require enough modification to be a new design.

Looks like BAE will have to offer a bit more than the Black Knight if they want to win.

The army is also planning to procure 190 APFSDS-T shells, 60 HEAT-T shells and 150 HE-T shells, said the source.
Sounds like they've got some heavy-duty fighting planned.

QuoteTo my fairly great surprise it has come to my attention that the Leclerc is starting to emerge as a favorite among a majority faction of our (Swedish) tanker people for the likely coming acquisition of more MBTs.
I had thought the Leo2A7 would have been the prime candidate but it seems like that is not a given for a few reasons.
According to some tanker officers there’s a possibility that the Leclerc in its current form is a more modern candidate with greater upgradability, has performed well in Yemen so far in the war there, the smaller crew of three is a plus in a shortstaffed organization (despite the issues with being one less for maintenance, we made it work with the strv103), smaller profile and lighter so able to cross more bridges and the word seems to be that deliveries could be made at a speedier pace.
The word is also that the somewhat younger tankers are leaning more towards the Leclerc and the older officers are more sceptical.
Now, I imagine that most of you would probably deem the Leo2A7 the superior tank but what is the current view of the Leclerc in a general sense?http://www.tboverse.us/HPCAFORUM/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=24582
Possible or complete BS?

That is SEPv3. Somebody must have forgotten to rename the contracts.
It just seems like they've gone back on that decision, I don't think I've seen a single industry/military source call them that.

What ever happened to the M1A2C thing?

Interestingly enough, the last Shermans only left service this year:

But to answer your question, if you were fighting guerillas that had no access to anti-tank weaponry it would be useful. I don't think it would be worthwile to upgrade them any further than maybe replacing the main gun with a low-pressure 90mm, though.

Part of polish MoD is working on G2G whit USA about take 300-400 M1A1 and upgrade it in Lima. Estimated cost is ~3bln $ It's forced against polish industry (PGZ want's to deal whit Germans or mod.PT-91M) or Army (they want Leopard 2 tanks). It's just slowly doing by last year - IMHO chance are 50/50 couse nobody (despite part od MoD) want's M1A1PL in Poland.
Would this be taking the place of the K-2 procurement?

Are those a Ukrainian version of the Assault Breacher in the front row?

The M8 and Griffin have been down-selected for the Mobile Protected Firepower bid, leaving out SAIC. The Company has stated that they plan to offer something for OMFV.
QuoteOf course, we are disappointed that our Mobile Protected Firepower vehicle prototype was not selected,” she wrote. “As for the (Bradley replacement), we are anticipating the Army’s release of a draft RFP for OMFV with great interest. We will continue to work with our partners ST Engineering, CMI Defense, Plasan, and other technology providers to assess and evaluate the Army’s requirements

Could it be that prototype that they were building last year, or a different off-the-shelf vehicle?

The Dutch military has decided to purchase, among other things, more tanks. Are there any surplus Leo 2s left or will the Dutch have to shell out for new builds?
