So I am a day late on this, but here is the G43 field strip. It is worth noting that the difference between a G43 and a K43 is the letter prefix:

Bolt locks to rear on empty mag:

    Trigger group:

With bolt locked back, you pull it a big farther and use the manual lock. Press the recoil spring plate and lift out:

Release the manual lock and it all comes apart:

    Gas system:

I have not shot this, but I was able to take it apart just by looking at it. Impressions are that I do not like how the flappers must be inserted on their designated side and could be easily lost. Other than that it seems fine (again, I have not shot it).

Chrysler had a practical turbine car. I have seen one and they are amazing machines through and through. My old man worked at a gas station as a kid and he said there was one that would regularly drive by and you could hear its very distinctive sound from very far away:

I do not. Having to fill up with fuel and water would be a burden, not to mention the complexity (even with modern production simplification, there are and always have been significant problems with steam relative to conventional internal combustion engines).
We have over a century of R&D into internal combustion engines so we know pretty much what works and what doesn't, and all advances have been very incremental (not unlike the small arms plateau discussion in the Infantry Tools sub-forum) but attempts to veer away from it have always failed. Take for example the Mazda RX7: Rotary engines are very nifty and produce an incredible amount of power relative to their displacement, but they are so notoriously unreliable (with boost) that even Mazda threw in the towel after the RX8. Electric cars even experience a "renaissance" every other decade or so and always fall flat on their face. Thomas Edison himself told Henry Ford not to dick around with electric cars, even though they were around and well known as early as 1900. This Tesla thing is interesting, but what people are now starting to realize is that the claimed mileage is optimal, with no A/C on (which creates a tremendous drain on them). Who knows where it will go.

I keep up with his videos, but you would be hard pressed to argue that .303 Mk I was not arguably the pinnacle of smokeless powder ammunition!
Edit: I dont know why I typed smokeless when I meant black

That isn't even the worst section of the test. It is bad. Really, really bad.

This is a small section of the torture test (it was after I put some dust on the gun, and I had to use the water to get it to function):

The most interesting car ever made. The death rattle of the steam powered automobile. Direct drive, no boiler ('Merican steampunk magic), 4 cylinder compound engine with high and low power pistons, 6 crystals used to regulate burners, one spark plug.

C&Rsenal is probably my favorite. Perfect fusion of history and firearms, and Othais does an incredible job.

Alex C. got a reaction from Belesarius in Needle Guns and the USA
Needle guns were very short lived even in Europe. They were around for quite a while, but really only saw heavy use by the Prussians from the Seven Weeks War and on into the Franco-Prussian War, when it was replaced in 1871 with the Mauser model 1871 (that used metallic cartridges). The French used the Chassepot only for a few years until they realized it could be upgraded to fire metallic cartridges (we did this with our Springfields).

Basically metallic cartridges took over before we "needed" to get ahold of needle guns. In 1860 the Spencer and the Henry rifles were designed and production soon started. While these were not in the hands of every soldier on the battlefield, in the years after the civil war the US got the Trapdoor (which we clung to for far too long, as guns like the Mauser 71/84 were exponentially better).
Remember that America was pretty insignificant on the global stage during the needle-fire era. The old Bismarck quote "The Americans are truly a lucky people. They are bordered to the north and south by weak neighbors and to the east and west by fish" seems to apply here.
