This seriously needs to stop. Not helping anyone, especially if the messages are insulting or no arguments are provided.

Boxes for the armor modules, cover for the SEOSS sight and parts of the RWS are made out of carbon-fibre. The same applies to parts of the KF31 and KF41 Lynx.
They were advertising on ESuT pretty heavily for some reason.
And as for the Austrian plans for Leopard 2 - The only cheap useful upgrades would be modernizing the optics with something like the Hensoldt products together with a modern armor package. Firepower upgrades would also be nice to see, but looking at the price of a new gun + the corresponding ammunition orders would probably be a dealbreaker for the Austrians.

The surplus Gepard used for test in Qatar in 2018 blew up one of the cannon breches before they even shot a first drone
That barrel failure was due to a mistake made by an operator.
2 hours ago, mr.T said:then had turret drives cause problems etc, so shootign was done on one cannon only
They only used one gun after the second one malfunctioned, not due to turret electronics.
2 hours ago, mr.T said:Search radar was useless and targets were engaged at 1000-400m
And multiple tests showed that Gepard was able to defeat drones at >1000m distance.

These systems are meant to defend frontline units.
The Luftwaffe uses the MANTIS system for close range air defense of infrastructure.

Isnt it possible that they confused it with the T-80BVM which is indeed protected by Relikt?
The sideskirts of the modernized T-72B3 indeed use same explosive filler as Relikt ERA, so there often is a confusion regarding that.
The T-80BVM tanks are protected by Relikt ERA but their base armor is incredibly old so i have big doubts whether these tanks can resist the combination of L/55 and DM63.

Not specified yet.

Some weird takes (like inability to penetrate T-72B3) but thanks for the good research!

Taken from twitter of Nicholas Drummond. Interesting to note that A7V is advertised with Trophy and „revised passive armour package“ (certainly hull add-on, anything else remains to be seen)

@Willy Brandt @SH_MM don't know if it's worth it to continue trying to explain this to him...

Are you sure that you don't confuse the L/44A1 with the L/55A1?
The gun was along other things demonstrated to a delegation of foreign military personnel in 2019.
27 minutes ago, SH_MM said:Since then it has been rarely mentioned. Jan-Phillipp Weisswange mentioned it on his blog once in 2018. I've not seen any further information, so maybe the idea was given up.
Yes i have seen it on the Strategie & Technik blog as well, but as you said there is little to no information so i wondered whether you had any. Quite plausible that plans have been changed now. Possibly DM63Plus redesignated to DM73 and previous DM73 design now called KE2020Neo. But that’s just speculation on my behalf.

purely hypothetical L/44A1
This gun is not "purely hypothetical", it was already tested.
25 minutes ago, SH_MM said:The DM63+ however is supposedly ready for introduction since 2019
Any source or documentation for that?

I know what it means, but since the tanker quoted 2000 m/s, there's a chance this is actually the performance of what's in service with the new gun. Remember the DM63A1 is a new round different from the DM53A1 & DM63, likely using a higher pressure propellant charge infront of the same penetrator to take advantage of the L55A1's added capability. The future DM73 is going to add a new penetrator to boot.
Your argument doesn't make sense, sorry. The DM63A1 has been around even before development for L/55A1 & L/44A1 has been started. And btw the Munitionsmerkblatt does not show an increased pressure.

Small recap, the German tanker who in a previous video was talking about a MV of 2000+ m/s might have been refering to performance of the L55A1 with the DM63A1 round. According to RhM the higher chamber pressure results in a 20% increase in performance over the L55 with the DM53/53A1/63.
No, the gun just supports a higher chamber pressure. It does not mean that current rounds have increased pressure, velocity or muzzle energy.

What's the possibility of Germany offerering a similar deal?
Construction of new tanks? Very unlikely. KMW or Rheinmetall could offer certain integration or part assembly/construction contracts.
But looking at recent K2 offerings... Kind of a smoke screen according to the polish insiders i've talked to. If you look at the offer that becomes quite obvious. They offer a tank which does not exist, with some parts that are also still under development. Completing all that within the timeline of 5 years including setting up production capacities is very ambitious to say the least.

So apparently Norway is finally moving ahead to replace their old Leopard 2A4 MBTs. According to their "Long Term Defense Plan" they want to equip one brigade with new tanks.
Currently the Norwegian Army operates 36 MBTs, if they want to equip an entire brigade of their maneuver bataillons that would translate to a need for quite a big number of vehicles.
The main competitors seem to be the Leopard 2 and the K2 Black Panther.
Leopard 2 upgrade proposal which was posted somewhere in this forum already
South Korean K2 Black Panther (proposal for the Polish Army)
An upgrade for the Leopard 2 would probably come out to be much cheaper than the order of a tank which does not exist in said variant. The main challenge for the german companies in winning this contract will probably be the ability to deliver the tanks on time. Right now there are over 200 german tanks that have to be upgraded, together with other orders from Hungary, Denmark etc.

Germany should really consider reinventing their designation systems... it is getting idiotic. Again. They did the same thing in cold war. Now what is next? Leo-2A6A4A3A8V??? What is the point of stacking these stupid "A" numbers on each other? Americans did it right now with the new Abrams designation system.
Once all 20 A7s got converted, the A7V will be called A7. The tanks with the various and confusing amount if A6 designations will also be shrinked due to the second phase of the german Leo 2 upgrade process.

The Leopard 2 T19 turret was fitted with an actual autoloader in 1983. The turret was fitted to a Leopard 1 hull for test.
Funny because this exact turret was used as a testbed for the 140mm gun.
@SH_MMalso, do you have any additional information (apart from ESuT) on this autoloader on the PT19 turret?

And we also have the (more famous) PT14 (mod) Turret autoloader. Tank is on display at WTS Koblenz.

Not an autoloader, but a semi-automatic loader. Basically the same system as used on the Merkava 4, but using a conveyor belt instead of drums.
Thanks, i did not know that there was a distinction for this in english

Definitely not. That doesn't make any sense, because energies on impact will differ. Gun performance in MJ is practically always measured at the muzzle.
