SURPRISE MOTHERFUCKERS!

Do @Dominus Dolorem and @A. T. Mahan need more time or are they just out?

Ok, appendix 3 is more or less finished.
Now I only wait for @Sturgeon's abr.. comanche.
More like a Challenger, really. -

Vollketten 55(tonne).01 - vehicle name. Versuchsträger-(N)iedrige (K)omplexität - project name.
It is the usual nomenclature of the tractor factory that was meant to design it.
Uh... In Texas?

@delete013 what the hell is wrong with your tank's name?

Kinda, I made a research in Leopard 2 topic and this topic but I couldn't find what I need. Then I thought posting in here should be fine. Sorry if I made a mistake.
There are two things I'd do if I were you. The first, is make some primary source contributions of your own, since that is what people like around here. The second is, be much, much more specific with your questions. You asked an extremely general question as your first post here, I'm not surprised nobody responded to you.

Does anyone have documents about Leopard 2?
Did you read the forum beginner's guides?

Drummond is notable for being very bad at the technical side of design of armored vehicles, which contrasts strongly with how vocal he is with his opinions on the topic.

If I broaden tracks of E-100, I might bring ground pressure under 0,97kg/cm3 ...
At a 48% armor fraction you're at like 145t.

Ok, thanks.
Why is 70 a limit?
You'll find out.

Upgrade a tank - 1970’s (based on Fix a tank - 1943)
It’s the middle of the Cold War, and tensions are high throughout the world. 3rd world countries are trying to buy tanks to protect themselves from foreign aggressors. Pick a tank built and produced before 1952, and upgrade it with equipment and technology available by 1970. First gen LRF’s, second gen i2, and ERA are available (NERA is not). Completely replacing the turret is an option, though expensive.
Available vehicles:
M46
M26
M41
M36
M4A3
Centurion Mk.3
FV4101 Charioteer
A34 Comet
A30 Challenger
A30 Avenger
T-54IS-3
IS-2 Mod.44
T-44
T-34
Panzer 4
StuG 3
Jagdpanzer 4
Jagdpanzer 38
The problem with this as described is that every tank becomes a Sho't Kal Dalet.

@terry88 please explain to me why everyone born in 1988 is too retarded to keep stuff to one thread?

How accurate are the armour formulas? I chain one after another, according to my armour modules and the stats appear overly optimistic.
Second, have heavy ERA and NERA any specific definition? The armor formulas are considered accurate according to the reality in the universe. However, the formulas can be a little tricky to use, so it's a good idea to post your math for others to double-check. I'm getting, for example, ~300mm with a single HNERA layer at 70 degrees from vertical.
HNERA is defined in the California solicitation. I omitted it from the Texas solicitation for reasons that aren't important right now. -

Seeing as I didn't actually get a chance to develop the new packages, let alone model the internals, I don't really have one.
What was the armor mass of the previous tank?

@Sturgeon Can I include fitments as pauschal of the steel construction? And what percentage?
Btw, I'm very impressed with what you've showed off so far.

No. Fitments are separate. I highly recommend doing the math as I showed, the judges will be checking your work that way. "Cheating" can only get you a worse grade (which I found out the hard way). -

There were coverage gaps due to the NERA cassette being poorly angled from an error in the optimization script. I was going to fix that for this competition, but I don't think it will cut the protection offered by all that much. Additionally, the weight with ERA was about 55 tons, which I think is pretty reasonable compared to its contemporaries. I also would like to point out that for this competition, I dramatically reduced the size of the underlying turret structure to reduce protected volume and thereby save weight, since the previous turret was almost comically over-large as a result of my relative lack of experience designing armored vehicles. I think the reduced mass efficiency of the fixed armor package design will likely soak up some of those weight savings, but I would need to actually go model it to check my weight budget, and as I previously stated, I no longer have an NX seat as of when I initially posted. I therefore am unable to actually submit an entry to this competition, so I'm rambling about what my plans were.
Would you be willing to post your armor mass?

As I recall that armor array left much to be desired in terms of coverage, as the cassettes weren't properly overlapped.
That's what I suspected. I would expect his tank to be lighter than Comanche for all the usual reasons, but not that much lighter with 2-3 times the armor!

I would like to reiterate that the previous turret frontal armor package design was capable of withstanding 43/59" RHAe tandem charges and 31" RHAe kinetic penetrators before the inclusion of the ERA package. It also had quite satisfactory turret side armor.
I'm a little confused by this. Could you show your math? You're describing a tank that is 12t lighter than Comanche with almost triple the armor protection.

It would be a backup competition in case next year's competition runs into issues.

How improvised? If we're talking 1920s tech then I'm all for it.
I'm thinking a "serious" tank (whatever that means) made out of like bits and bobs. Haven't thought much further than that.
It would be set in the most "falloutish" period of the SHCU so it would be very mad max.
-
I had an idea for an improvised tank designed for much earlier in the SHCU setting (circa 2150s).
