If you point a smart phone at it, does it come up with a QR code for camo?

I guess road wheels don't count.
Also, when did units switch to naming companies instead of calling them the phonetic name. I: Battle Company instead of Bravo Company.

They look a little too fat to be tankers. Might get stuck in the hatch.

I think the marijauna legalization is going a bit too far.

Man, I might have helped get the Chieftain's Hatch locked.
Oh well, but LiB's sense of entitlement annoyed me.
Hey Walter, I like your police M113 article. I liked the photo of the M577 with the light bar on it. Who do they think they're going to pull over?

From the Sherman thread:
>Indirect Fire Control Gear
You would think that would be it for fire control equipment, but it’s not, because all Shermans came equipped with the equipment for their tanks to work as impromptu artillery batteries all Sherman based TDs had this gear as well. The US Army had this extra gear installed all the way up to the M60 tanks. During the war, some tank and TD battalions were very good at being artillery; other units didn’t train for it, and were not good. This was a good way of keeping tanks useful in Italy, and they filled this role a lot there. I do not think this was something many other nations did with their tanks.
I remember setting up range cards for night firing on M60A1s using this gear. Pretty much the same equipment.

With everybody and their brother producing new IFV, vehicle ID is getting harder and harder.

Left over M60A2 turrets (ALVB conversions) were put on M48 hulls for hard targets. At least one was used as a static display.

So, I'm curious why the US continued using the M4 and other domestic tanks, instead of picking up German tanks after the war. The M4 had terrible armor and lit on fire every time it was hit (hence the "zippo" nickname), where the Tiger or Panther could reliably kill enemy tanks out to two kilometers while being invulnerable from as near as 100m away, and being much more mechanically reliable. I'm sure that the blueprints for German tanks weren't destroyed after the war, and after some retooling and upgrading, I'm sure the US industry would have been capable of producing them.

I loved that book, especially the part where he beans a VC on the head with a ballpeen hammer. I used to joke that the ballpeen hammer was a tanker's true sidearm.
