  1. I'm only going off the assumption here that it is a century rebuild, I don't think I have any way to tell other than checking it in person. Rebuilds would use beech wood instead of walnut, have a plastic buttplate, and lots of mismatched serial numbers. The one rather poor quality picture I took isn't enough for me to really tell what it is. Guessing though that this means Century guns tend to be subpar.
  2. The aforementioned gun store has a nice little CZ 52 there, though from my understanding, they're not entirely the best gun. And on the topic of guns not being the best, does Century have any issues with not doing the best job on their guns? I feel like there's not a single large gun dealer that you're going to hear people not try to hate somehow, but further reading leads me to believe that the FN-49 at the store is likely one of those that Century built from spare parts that came in when the guns were imported.
  3. The issue for me is I do techically have enough money to spend on this stuff without screwing myself over, I just like to keep a comfortable amount in the bank. I'll have no issue affording it, I'll just want to adjust how I spend my spare money for a bit to bring myself back to that point. Worse still is the Academy Sports in town has their Monarch 7.62x54r spam cans on clearance since they're being discontinued (cheap non-corrosive nugget food!) and I've got a friend really trying to get rid of stuff like an ACH helmet he's offering me for way lower than he should. Translated, this means I'll likely buy all this stuff, regret seeing so much money go, but will eventually appreciate the short term hit for the long term savings. Thing is that I am a fan of both of those little niches. I very much enjoy my M39 and baby it a lot, anticipating my makarov to be blessed with similar treatment. Long term, might get one of those fancy wood grips for extra style points. It's a nice gun that looks nice and that makes me happy. Stuff like the tokarev serves to fill the role of more dakka. I have an unhealthy interest in things that go boom, and the tok is especially qualified in these regards. Only thing holding me back from the cheaper $180 option is I don't want to end up paying the $200 regardless due to ordering replacement parts. That, and I need to put a bandaid on the 1903 hammerless-shaped hole in my heart.
  4. 7.62x25 is easy to find online, but Academy doesn't carry it (my usual ammo spot) and it'll probably be until next Saturday that I head to my FFL to pick up my mak that I'll be able to check if they carry it (guessing they won't). I'd like to avoid shipping charges where I can, but I'm guessing I'll probably need to bite the bullet (ayy lmao) on this one if I do decide I should spend the money. The $180 pricetag for a gun with "excessive bluing wear" is very tempting since I could always refinish the gun myself in the future, but I rear that will also include worn parts and areas with minor rust. Also, whatever you're getting instead of the FN-49 had better be pretty great. I'm still salty that I can't get it.
  5. The Mak is headed my way now and I guess I'll get to see if a certain someone snagged the FN-49, but curse you sweaty Ben for putting yugo tokarevs at dirt cheap the same time this happens. I'm butthurt enough as it is that I missed the era of <$100 milsurp guns, but not sure if it would be in my interest to get this as well. Not even sure any place in town sells ammo for it.
  6. So apparently you get duckies from playing this one game mode, not from some now expired drop like stop signs or those paints. I have made quite the mistake it seems. Leviathan is 6-1 at least
  7. I'm in luck in that I actually prefer the red bakelite grips to the black. If I were to replace it with anything, it would be a fancy wooden grip. One of the things that drew me to the gun is that I both like how it looks, plus the thing just works. I get that the torture test videos aren't the best test for how reliable a gun is in practice, but if it still shoots all 8 rounds fine when stuffed with mud and wet sand, I'd find it hard to believe at that point that the gun is a jam-o-matic. 9mm Mak ammo I can find in town here for reasonable prices. I hadn't looked yet at how it handles +P ammo, but I've at least heard it feeds hollow point ammo just fine, something I guess is an issue with many older guns. Plinking ammo for 9mm Mak seems to cost only a hair more than .380. Along with the grips, any upgraded sights or .22 conversion kit is something I'd worry about later. Sights I imagine I will want to replace, haven't heard anything good about them. My understanding on the East German (?) .22 conversion kits is that like any other makarov thing, it'll work in any nation's. Issues only come up when you try mix and matching parts from .380 variants or P-64s or something. I'll want to look more at what's available for me, but of all the issues to have, poor sights I imagine will be one of the easier ones to fix. The gun on that rack the last time I was there was a Hakim, so I guess someone's got a lot of Egyptian stuff for them.
  8. @Khand-e Both places are selling standard military Bulgarian Makarovs that they describe as appearing unissued.
  9. Yesterday, ordered a Makarov off of Southern Ohio Gun. Today, ClassicFirearms puts their Makarovs on sale for $275. Thankfully that happened the day after and not the week after, so I should be able to cancel that order and get it at the lower price before my order ships. Also ran down to the gun store to doublecheck with FFL stuff and was taunted by the rather nice FN-49 they have that I will never get. It is in 8mm Mauser, but it doesn't look like the thing's ever been used much at all before.
  10. When you reach level 17, you can make yourself a very large vehicle with ~150 pieces and ~60 energy. You don't get to drive it, but an AI will pilot it and fight players in that one raid game type. Each time it wins for you, you'll earn 15 copper, nothing happens on defeats. Completely redid my leviathan yesterday so it has two cannons on each side instead of one, seems to have gotten me another win, leaving me at 2-0. I'm pretty certain that despite being run by AI, it does not have infinite ammo for cannons, so sticking in an ammo pack would be wise. Most people are smart enough to not try to go head on with one, so I would also recommend not focusing so hard on arming and armoring the front.
  11. I've got my second duck about finished getting crafted, but suddenly... Also, seems that with leviathans (at least with what I see with my 5500 PS vehicle), cannons seem to easily be the most effective weapon to stick on it. If it's just MGs and shotguns, all the players need to do is sit back and kill it from a distance. Range with cannons is not an issue for the AI however and they really wreck other players when there are half a dozen cannons firing. Mine has only seen one battle so far, but won it. The thing's got about 6 cannons, 3 turret droppers, an autocannon, and some smaller guns. The most effective one I've come across was just a bunch of the turreted 57mm guns.
  12. The duckpocalypse is upon us. Enough pieces for 10 ducks should get me by, any more that I buy will be for the purpose of selling off. Now I can finally progress in the game instead of buying ducks. I started today with 40.00 shekels and ~250 duck fragments, ended broke but with now 383 duck fragments.
  13. Going to order myself a Makarov this saturday, but suddenly... lol at people in comments missing the part about how these release at noon tomorrow
  14. What I've decided to do is collect stuff like stop sign fragments while they're dirt cheap, wait a bit after the event, then sell for a profit. Last night I was spending 0.02 per fragment and getting 0.05 back, now just stockpiling and hoping the price ends up closer to what the graffiti dusk paint fragments sit at now. Same deal with duster cabins, though those aren't as simple to buy on a whim and I imagine will see a slower increase in value.
  15. I accidently the duck economy. Managed to get a few at even below 0.30, checked the market now and the cheapest is 0.98 per fragment. Guess that's to be expected since I got nearly 180 fragments off the market in a roughly 24hr period (270 are currently for sale).
  16. Just now had a remarkably similar battle in terms of score, though I only had 5 kills, but more points through assists and capping. Vehicle below is what got me that battle, appears I need to shave some weight off the thing however. I should jump on TS for once and play a few rounds with you all at some points, grinding out wires for my duck army. Not really able to take advantage of the economic stuff this weekend since I'm not far enough to afford anything purple and am hoarding wires.
  17. I'll likely end up investing a significant proportion of my resources into getting ducks. Got roadkilled by a guy with almost 20 ducks sitting on top of his car and I was rather inspired by that. Oil prices have crashed pretty hard, not so sure about them being good for making money unless you stack the barrel and tank. 5 shekels per stack is pretty poor in comparison to what is was but a month ago. Went ahead and sold all that stuff for duck fragments regardless. I've got a need for ducks. And since we're sharing rigs, here's what I've been trolling around in PvP with. The small plow at low tiers is a really tough nut to crack, so it makes for excellent front armor. Feels like it gives almost a +50% effective HP boost having my front being all modules and little structure. Lunatic structual bits seem to have the best HP in relation to weight, so stuck those where ever I could as well while keeping the thing looking nice. Cannon with the duster cabin means you can nuke someone's butt from a new angle whenever you see fit. No one's really going to outrun me, especially since I stuck an engine in too. At 2600ps, a single 6pdr is still fairly effective and can really ruin someone's day if you score a solid hit on the cabin itself or some other juicy bit. PvE+PvP rig is still pretty close to what I think I've posted already. 2 MGs behind and above the plane cabin, autocannon up from and plenty of spaced armor. Nice jack of all trades sort of thing I've got going on with it. @Ulric Not sure how much an issue it's proven to be, but with those front few MGs, it may be worth trying out putting them on grilles or some other object labelled as being able to be shot through. Like frame pieces, those are actually quite difficult to break, so you'll really only lose those guns by the guns themselves being hit, not what holds them up.
  18. Alex Jones put out a $20,000 meme bounty for the best CNN meme. What a time to be alive when there's meme contests with 5 digit cash prizes.
  19. Sperging at their advertisers seems to be a likely target. From the brief bit that I checked /pol/ yesterday, that, dirt digging, and harassing the relevant CNN people seem to be the current angle of attack. I'm also of the opinion that legal action isn't likely to yield anything meaningful. Regardless, CNN can't be feeling very good when this is happening on top of all these veritas releases. You've really got to wonder how many people they got in, just had another clip release yesterday.
  20. Also on /pol/ was a claim that it was a 15 year old T_D redditor, though it sounds like this gif was made more than once.
  21. The duster is still cheaper than most blue equipment, so I picked one up now nice I figure the price will only rise. With how small and light it is, it's easy to pull off some pretty hilarious and impractical rides. I still need to unlock some better guns to fully take advantage of this.
  22. Another good thing about MGs and probably shotguns is you can actually shoot down those missiles.
  23. Google tells me the duster was given free to CBT players or something. Is there any way you can trade stuff directly from one player to another? I know a guy who did CBT but quit since he didn't like the grind. Interested in grabbing it for making as small of a doom buggy as I can.
