Blackpill moment: Banning assault weapons, even if you had a magic genie in a bottle to wish every single rifle that falls under that category, will not eliminate mass shootings in America and will have a painfully minimal level of impact on the gun related death rate, because as already mentioned the primary instrument of gun homocide and suicide is a pistol with a handful of rounds loaded into it.

Even pointing to something like magazine bans, the Parkland shooter specifically chose smaller magazines(10 rounders) for his AR because he could fit more in his backpack

And that's not even getting into the era of modular AR builds and the blurring between pistol-sized rifles and rifle-sized pistols

Or the Philly shooter who had multiple felonies, including ones related to firearms, but was still on the street and had zero issues "acquiring" what he wanted to kill cops with.

Gun laws (by design) only keep weapons out of the hands of the honest .

Oh, I'm aware of the poll tax and literacy test, and what they were historically used for.

In the modern age, and at face value, I think everyone should have to pass a literacy test to vote. If you can't read what you are voting on, you have no business voting. Also, universal suffrage was a mistake. Letting the beneficiaries decide how much money they get to take from the benefactors never ends well. Heinlein had it right in Starship Troopers: you get to vote after you put skin in the game.

    Good luck getting that passed.

    Involving "voting" that is.

"Mandatory  National Background Checks" in order to exercise one right, but you dare not do the same for another.

    Welcome to crazyland.

Holy shit, I'm just trying to imagine how hard the left would flip out if voting was as involved as buying a machinegun. Somehow, we can't even ask for identification for voting, but now they want to tax the shit out of guns and ammunition.

There used to be everything from "poll taxes" to "Poll testing".

Amusingly enough, the majority were conceived and utilized in mostly Democratic areas.

I have a few questions regarding US gun laws:

Do US firearms come with a identification number that is registered to an owner, that the police can search up in a database?

In that case, could police then do random check ups on people's firearms to check if the firearm has been stolen?

In the case the registration number is gone, or scratched up, the police could confiscate the firearm, until the owner gets a new registration plate or re-registers the gun.

This way, the US would know how many guns each person owns, and how many in total in the US.

A national fire arms register could be established, which could be checked with medical and police records of the owner and the house hold.
If the police see a mentally ill person stockpiling weapons commonly used by mass shooters, they could put them on a watch list.

And what about a incentive for people to buy less "assault weapons" with either a tax on the more lethal weapons, or a discount on the more personal defense oriented firearms.
Let's say all small compact pistols with equal or less than 15 rounds in the magazine gets a 15% discount.
Or all hunting rifles that can contain more than 5 rounds have a 10% tax.

The idea would to instead of banning all sorts of useless things, we could incentivies people to buy less lethal and more practical weapons. Enthusiasts could still own their AR-15 with 200 round drum mag, with a bumpstock and night vision scope, while the average bloke would probably own a cheap and compact pistol for concealed carry in self defense.

Taxing "rights" and the unfettered exercise of them is a good way to start a civil war in this country.

I'm still amazed how long this nation has put up with the '34 GCA .

A side note, many places used to tax voting, for the same reason many politicians want to restrict firearms.

Now sat. image. Turkish MRAPs and UAVs, Israeli recon UAVs, Soviet planes from Ukraine loaded with military cargo... Libya is about as messy as Syria. When Iran is going to start to smuggle ballistic missiles to that region, lol?

Something about burned up cargo planes that just makes me cringe a bit.

  6. Before I put mu collection on Ebay, is there any subject someone is looking for?

Most of my stuff is weird Japanese market military aircraft, and some WW2 era "solid" models.

    A few bits of armor.

Also, I have a lot of "bitsa" I may be offering. Some of the tins of Humbrol may still be good as well as the wonderful Testors "metallizer" finishes.

The airbrushes are on hold, I may have a relative interested, but otherwise it's a few Paasche DA's, a Passche SA, a Badger DA, a Badger SA "touchup", and a Japanese "Mr Hobby" DA.

Will try and take pictures, but it's a LOT of stuff.  Also much Evergreen, K-E brass/aluminum tube, and innumerable bits/greebles.

    Image result for offroad miata

I would 100% daily this thing.

I want an offroad fast car now.

Find an old Z car. 240/260/280. Not a ZX or 300.

MUCH better.  I had a 76 280Z with BFG's, and open exhaust, it was a fucking monster on fire roads in Northern Michigan.

Early280's also were running actual Bosh L-Jetronic, so you could monkey with it a lot.

Miatas, well, if you're as tall as I am youll get a fucking crick in your neck. It's like wearing a ballcap with the bill pulled down too far.  A Z you have miles of room, and a big windshield.

It's mostly the left waiting to be able pin the whackjob on the right so they have more justification to push an antigun agenda. The right recently has learned how to counter push this by pointing out which subset of hard to pin whackjobs they are, then finding ways to tie that to left wing ideology. The exception is usually Islamic extremism, where the left will breathlessly report about a gay night club being shot up, and how it must have been by some anti gay redneck Republican thumping his Bible as he send fags to eternal damnation. Then they find out it was done in the name of Allah, and they drop it like a potato that was heated up in reactor 4 of CNPP. My favorite part was every news outlet reporting on the 911 call the shooter made, talking about how he was saying "god is great". Yes, Allahu Akbar does translate to that, but there is a certain connotation that is lost when you say it in English. Doing that makes it sound more like a Christian, instead of a Muslim.

My take on the garlic shooting is that it's lost it's legs because of several factors. First, it was a low body count shooting. I know that sounds cold to say, but a headline with only 3 people dead isn't going to get clicks, so why waste time talking about something that won't generate revenue. Secondly, it doesn't push the narrative that clear cut Trump supporters and white males are dangerous whackjobs that need to have their guns taken away. Thirdly, it undermines that the antigun narrative a bit, since this happened just south of lefty Mecca, the bay area. With California having just had even more restrictive firearms laws come into effect at the beginning of the month, pushing this story just highlights how having the most restrictive gun laws in the country still does nothing to stop these incidents. If the fail condition for how effective your gun laws are is having a single incident occur, your gun laws will never be strong enough.

And outside the US, nobody cares, and rightly so.

Three dead, cause people had guns, and performed damage control.

  9. Ah.

Do not bring the M163 into low tier battles.

Not only does it shred, the ridiculous M113 chassis it is based on seems to be absurdly manuverable.

So. If you want to annoy people, load "M163 VADS", in a low tier private, murder as many as you can then say, "Oh, All I have now is a T-32."..

If you are in Kentucky, you WILL hear the screaming from Missouri and Michigan, as PzIII;s work to pen that monster.

  10. Be nice if the stupid ban on Chicom/Sov arms went away.

Kind of missing the NHM91 I had.  Even had a few drums.

Later I had a MAADI AKM.  Passed up more than a few Russian SKS's, thinking "Ah, we're friends, there'll be more!".

    There weren't.

Not that the current hobby of building Rem870's as I want them is bad, but it's slow.

Sometimes, you just want an AK around the house.

So much of what could have been good, just went pear-shaped here.

Some really great features, but then the ..Forehead, just fucks it.  Rake that shit back, marry the lines of the fenders.

And the power.  Drop a Caddy V8 in there, dual carbs, McCullogh blower, big Hydromatic.  Give it some shove to go with the looks.

The dash is prewar. No comment. Looks fine in  Dodge WC, but underwhelming here.

  12. Hopefully shit is sorted. Having been in Korea for a time, I do not want what I saw destroyed.

My memories are of a friendly, gregarious people. Albeit a bit prone to overcharging.(Not that I noticed).

(Which is another story. I'm used to paying the posted price. That is very verboten in South Korea).

The problem with light vehicles of this configuration, is the tendency to chew up rear tires. They often have a small enough turning radius to where the rear tires are scrubbed badly in turns.  Unlike a "normal" configuration, where the radius extends through the rear axle, here the radius extends through the centerline between the two axles.

With heavier vehicles, the radius is large enough it's not as big an issue (it still happens, just not as badly).

This likely being a FWD vehicle, it may have had a large enough turning radius to minimize the scrubbing.

I cannot fathom the dissonance required to not see that an executive order to take weapons from citizens is horrendously fascist.

All that aside, it demonstrates a nigh upon insane lack of comprehension of the logistics (and repercussions) involved in such a command.

Once the cork was out of the bottle, it would be open fucking season on feds.
