MK3 be hit?I guess MK3 and MK4 use different type of armor.

I know warthunder is not equal to the real world, just curious whether it is very far from the truth .
The hull side without composite shirt of L2A5 in game world:
UP part:35mm+10mm
low part:20mm/43 degr =equal to 32mm
M1A2
UP part:27.6mm+6mm
low part :30mm
ZTZ 96:50mm+8mm rubber skirt
According to the some chinese military forums ,the 14.5mm DGJ02 penetrate 20/50 derg at 1000m.(I do not know whether it is true).
I confirm 50mm hull side of ZTZ96 is real,ZTZ99 and ZTZ99A may have same protection in the area.

I'd expect atleast 350mm RHAe in the center if we're talking 420mm composite + 240mm solid titanium (660mm LOS).
The edges of the mantlet area could present as high a value as 400mm RHAe considering the 240-280mm RHA turret armour behind the 420mm mantlet:
PS: Went and sat in a Leopard 2A5DK today and had the opportunity to eyeball the thickness of the add on armour on the upper hull. These blocks of armour looked atleast 5cm thick, probably more. So the upper hull on the newer leopards is very strong. Also had a good 5 min in the gunners position, and I must say the gunners optics are excellent, extremely crisp (no LCD screen for the gunner in the tank I sat in though). Also noted a small joystick to the right of the gunners control handle, not sure what that was for?
Do you have source that the turnnion is solid? My friend think it is empty like leopard 1.

I have a question.
How did the Rheinmetall improve the armor behind the EMES-15?The turret of the leopard 2 with AMAP looks very thick but the armor at this point seems weak.

Time to play smack-a-gentile.
This absolute madlad called @RedEffect put out a video with quite a few claims about, specifically, problems with the Merkava. I know the problems with the Merkava, and what he raised is either inaccurate, or misunderstood.
Merkava is always a controversial topics due to its unique design .

The instruction of model shows the differences between early turret and the late turret of MK3D,the armor modules changed.

The missiles seem to be launched one by one. To ensure defeat of the Trophy, you'd have to launch them simultaneously.
Additionally, since the Trophy adds a slew-to-cue feature, i.e it points the gun at the launch source, you'll basically have the turret front facing the two missiles. Since Trophy, in all current known implementations, has significant overlapping coverage zones, both its launchers can be activated to defeat both missiles.
Last but not least, one of the arguments against the RPG-30 was that statistically, any projectile flying directly behind another projectile, is basically guaranteed to be hit by one of the EFPs of the Trophy's interceptor.
Same goes for this new demonstration with the Red Arrow ATGM.
It was designed to defeat APS. At some point, because Trophy was the only APS in service at the time, and still is, someone decided to claim it's designed to defeat Trophy, to which Rafael simply replied that the RPG-30 is too primitive in its design to defeat Trophy, and features nothing that could improve its chances over a typical RPG.
I think so.Maybe it is used to destroy tanks with ERA like Indian T-90s. Some documents demonstrate type 10 also have ERA。
Chinese official said nothing about it,only online medias contact it with APS.
The version in pics have never adopted by PLA and the regular version also purchased in a small amount because RED ARROW 11 is regarded as the most backward in latest generation of RED ARROW
Another question about TROPHY is that whether it can protect tank from ATGM like FGM-148s.Many chinese believe FGM-148 is the most dangerous ATGM because it attacks the top of tank .
-
I am a chinese fan .The APS "TROPHY" arouse our interest because American tank M1A2 use them.
There are many ATGMs developed in china. One of them seems to be designed to defeat TROPHY,some informations show the Russian is doing the same thing.
It can launch two ATGM continuously and hit on the one point .We have no ideas whether it works.

ZTZ-99A is bigger than west tank like K2 and type 10,may be taller than abrams and leopard 2.It is not a really compact tank.Which makes it lighter than M1A2 and leopard 2A6/7 are smaller powerpack and weaker side armour.
The poor protection of both turret and hull side is the really problem,i think it is a compromise for weight .
When ZTZ-99A came into service in 2010s, it was a nice tank for PLA,but now it needs MLU.
