I'm with Sturgeon on this one.  I was excited about the possibility of juicy inside gossip from the White House, so I started reading the twitter account a while back.  If someone were leaking information from the inside, the social cachet for revealing that they had been the one doing so would be great, so it seemed plausible that someone would try.
But there are too many serious inconsistencies for this to be a credible leak.  For one thing, the account is several days old.  Were there any leaks from inside the Obama Administration that lasted that long?  I can't think of any.  The idea that the Secret Service would be pulling their hair out trying, but failing to find this guy is incredible.  I tell you though, Hillary would have solved a leak like this by now.
For another thing, the account has not, so far as I can tell, actually broken any news.  You would think that if this person actually had insider information, they would at least occasionally have the scoop on noteworthy decisions.  That would be a pretty easy way to prove bona fides.  But they have not.  Their announcement of Trump choosing Gorsuch, for instance, was several hours behind Breitbart's announcement of the same thing.  Or take a look at this:

It's unfalsifiable whether anything RoguePOTUSStaff said happened at all.  In fact, the opposite of what they predicted would happen happened, and they tried to spin it like it was some kind of near miss.  I've seen cold readers who did a better job than that.
The image they're painting of Trump is incoherent, and suspiciously similar to the caricature of Trump that failed to predict his behavior before the election.  This person wants me to believe that Trump is simultaneously a ranting authoritarian tyrant in private, but also a dithering imbecile who's easily manipulated?  Can you think of anyone meeting that description who isn't the villain of a Saturday morning cartoon?  They expect me to believe that Pence tries, and occasionally succeeds at pressuring Trump on LGBT issues.  Have these people seen Pence and Trump's body language in public?  It's not quite to the same degree as Putin and Medvedev, but it's very clear that there's a #1 and a #2.  They also want me to believe that there was something to the obviously fake Russian kompromat, and that Trump is unsuccessfully trying to hide from his subordinates.  Sure.
It pisses me off to see this.  I'm angry that I didn't think of it first.  Clearly there's money to be made in telling people fairy tales about Trump.  They don't need to be particularly clever or plausible fairy tales.  There's a large potential market of people who want to believe.

    Me too.

I love hipsters. They're like hippies, except they fully embrace capitalism while pretending to reject it. This results in hilarious behavior, like pretending to reject or critique capitalist society while actually advertising to the audience. This video is a great example of the highest form of that, where the critique and the philosophy is the ad itself, existing for no purpose other than to sell a product.

Short answer: all campaigning for the US presidency would be restricted to the California population centers.  If you look at the polling data from this election, you'll see that this isn't even one of my usual poetic exaggerations.

In addition, recounts would be grueling.

I do not particularly care for the California population centers.  The food scene in LA is pretty hot, the Bay Area has some nice museums, the Pomona campus is nice and the climate is wonderful except in the summer.  Aside from that, I would be hard pressed to find a locale less representative of stable interests for the entire United States excepting Washington D.C. and New York City.

Would you trust California to vote the right way on ecological issues?  I wouldn't.  The West Coast megacities have always been predicated on grand-scale water theft from counties further East, and the entire state's economy is predicated on grand-scale water theft from other states.

Would you trust California to vote the right way on energy issues?  I wouldn't.  They've voted for some idiotic requirement to produce 50% of their electricity by renewables, and are forced to import 25% of their electricity from states they despise like Arizona.  They've also whittled down their nuclear power plants to a single remaining station.  If you prefer renewables over nuclear for grid electrical production you can't do math, simple as that.

In short, if elections in the US were done by simple vote tally they would be decided by a region within a state that is a thoughtless, consuming maw that supports its folly and hubris by buying or buying, begging or stealing what it needs from other places.  If elections in the US were done by simple vote tally the only place worth campaigning in would be a state that used to be the center of the US aviation industry.  All the pandering, and all of the policies would be written to appeal to the locale that was the center of the hippie movement.  Can you imagine the sort of idiocy that wins popular accord in that state?  Well, you don't need to.  You can look it up.  It's not encouraging.

How about raising the minimum wage to more than double the Federal minimum in a state that already has above-average unemployment?  How about incentivizing pimps to use underage prostitutes while limiting law enforcement's ability to intervene?

In short, fuck letting California decide anything because fuck California.  It's a terrible place that's run by idiots.  Thank Satan that there's this weird, convoluted relic of the 1700s in Federal law that makes Californians' votes matter less than the votes of people in places that are productive and useful enough to allow California to continue its self-destructive and wasteful trajectory.

    I'll add to Toxn's post.

The issue with most genetically modified bacteria treatments is that FDA regulations here in the states require clinical trial recipients at all stages to come away from the treatment unchanged from when they entered. This means that whatever thing that was pumped into them, whether it be protein, bacterium, DNA, etc, must be provably nonexistent in their body at the end of the trial.

For instance, a group of geneticists reprogrammed the most comment cavity-causing bacterium to produce ethanol instead of lactic acid during its metabolism of pyruvates. This was as simple as switching a single enzyme.

However, once that bacteria takes hold in your mouth, you can't really get rid of it. Thus, they couldn't even begin phase one clinical trials.

I like that the Duke team implemented apoptosis to their bacteria. My hope is that their calculations for diffusion and regulation of those apoptotic markers coincide with the death of the gliomas.

Also, I'm wondering how they are getting the salmonella to divide quickly in a low oxygen environment. To my knowledge, Salmonella doesn't do that well anaerobically. And the byproducts wouldn't be good for a brain, but that's probably been seen to by the team.

All in all, I'm highly pro genetically engineered bacteria. It's a beautiful and burgeoning field that deserves less FDA intervention (or at least a revision of FDA rules to account for the new science) and more bright minds.
