The Everest Thread
Jeeps_Guns_Tanks replied to LostCosmonaut's topic in History, Culture, and Archaeology
It's the incident they left a guy for dead, and he came stumbling into their camp with frost bite all over him but he still lived right? I remember most of his nose being gone.- 18 replies

Cool pic, I read somewhere the Sodak was a hard luck ship, but don't remember where. -
Japanese Assessment of US Land Tactics
Jeeps_Guns_Tanks replied to LostCosmonaut's topic in Historical Warfare
They were not as robust as the US troops either, and the food they got wasn't as good. During the Solomons campaign, the environment was almost as bad as the enemy, being tropical jungle. The Japs had no reliable way to control malaria either. -
Food and Putting it in Our Faces
Jeeps_Guns_Tanks replied to Brick Fight's topic in History, Culture, and Archaeology
Sourdough, thick slices of smoked ham, cheddar cheese, mayo and yellow mustard. -
Yeah, they had a defroster, and a little windshield wiper right? I wonder why you never see them in use?

A raise to 15$ min wage would suck for us, that's what we start someone we have to train. We are having a horrible time finding anyone who wants to be a full time Pool tech, starting untrained pay, 15 an hour, after training we give you a raise depending on how well you do but 19 isn't unheard off. We'll pay much more if you know what your doing. We just can't find anyone reliable, and it's not just us, none of the pool service companies in the area can get anyone either. This is why I've worked 10 plus hour days all summer and haven't done anything fun or interesting like install a heater... Of the last 5 guys we have hired, two have quit and filed false workmans comp injury claims against us, one moved and one had to be fired for being lazy, the last and youngest, took a part counter job at a dealership.

Yeah, but in many ways it's much better than the other one you linked. This one is a early mid production small hatch, with a 55 gallon drum and pipe gun. It has non DV drivers hoods but mostly the early suspension. Odd.

Anatomy of the Ship, Why no Modern American BBs?
Jeeps_Guns_Tanks replied to Jeeps_Guns_Tanks's topic in Naval Discussion
UPDATE!! After someone posted a lint to this site. http://maritime.org/doc/plans/index.htmI found the place index in that link, and in it our plans for three of the Iowa class BBs, like down to what each room was for on every deck etc. Basically an anatomy of a ship book, without the fluff about the ship I already know. I'm super, mega, hella, stoked!! Download any of the PDFs at that link if you want to geek out on what each and every room and space on a variety of WWII American ships were for. -
The Hippie Hate Thread
Jeeps_Guns_Tanks replied to Sturgeon's topic in History, Culture, and Archaeology
Yeah, FUCK hippies, they are dirty, smelly, awful people. -
Or just driven to death, I know a guy who put almost 200,000 miles on his 90 GT before he gave up on keeping it on the road. And sure, GM really didn't have a decent competitor until the fourth gen F Body hit.

It even worked, a little, since the first one sunk like three destroyers, and both cost millions in damage to the ships. So of the larger ships took damage from them. If I recall right, the Iowa burned up a shaft bearing when one of her outboard propellers came out of the water. -

Yeah, that'd be a sick ride... Anyway, good pics from the two Halsey Typhoons are hard to come by. I find it fascinating he sailed through them twice! -
Honestly, I've never even seen one, cars like that are extinct and have been for years in the parts of Cali i've lived in. Unless their hiding garages and never get driven. You still see Cadys around from that era though. But I'm posting from the car brands are like political parties view, so probably out of my ass. Though the anti Chrysler thing was handed down from my dad, his mom liked Chryslers and she was not a classy lady.

A shot from Halsey's first Typhoon. -
Very nice cars! That 67 GTOs engine compartment is awesome. Classic are AC/Heater and clean firewall. All the wiring hidden. What else did you do to it? More pics please. If you haven't figured it out Pontiac is my bent. What carb you running? Is that the same motor they put in the Buick GSX? Yeah on the GN reviving things, mostly off the cuff there, the Fox body 302 cars from Ford had as much to do with if not more, but they are not GM so you know how it goes.

I was going for, Chrysler was a less classy brand, IE, if you could afford a GM brand, or even a Ford, you bought some kind of Chrysler.
