  1. 340+ comments now. I think it's the most sensational thing I've ever written.
  2. I will have to put it off. I just fisked General Richard Scale's article in the Atlantic, so I'll need a cool down period.
  3. US Formally Ends War In Afghanistan; British Military Small Arms Ammunition Collector And Reformer Loses Will To Live
  4. Colli has to like The Pierces, because he is The Pierces. Both of them. I do approve of their use of varying refrains, mindless masses who would be frustrated at having to memorize extra lyrics to sing along be damned.
  5. Just got US Rifle M14 - from John Garand to the M21 and The M1 Garand Rifle by Canfield in today. Huzzah!
  6. Seven posts in, and nobody's mentioned Sparky. Good job, everybody! ...Shit.
  7. Well, that kind of leash might as well be a big rubber-stamped monogram on the owner's forehead saying "I AM AN IDIOT PLEASE KILL ME TO INCREASE THE INTEGRITY OF THE GENE POOL"
  8. According to the ATF, that is a rifle. Naturally, were I King of the Americas, I wouldn't have made laws this silly, but what else can you expect from bloated democracy-borne systems? You mean like any other rifle round?
  9. No, about you having something serious to add to the discussion. Do you think I'm talking about relationship arrangements, or women in combat? I'm talking about the latter. Wombs are valuable, phalluses much less so. The society that sacrifices phalluses before wombs will have an advantage in terms of reproductive capacity over the one that sacrifices both equally. That has nothing to do with social structures and sexual practices, it's just the nature of human biology.
  10. I don't know how useful woodsball is, but it sure is fun!
  11. The problem with the leashes isn't their design (which is highly convenient) it's the common perception that they are a substitute for training. A trained dog on an extendable leash will become no less trained, but a stupid owner with an extendable leash will beget many an untrained dog.
  12. In what universe are grapefruit more difficult to eat than watermelons?
  13. What, is World War I so far behind us that you couldn't imagine a war that devastated the female population so badly that it caused serious problems for a society?
  14. It is legally a pistol. Which means it is subject to the regulations that a pistol is, unlike an SBR which is subject to much more strict regulations. That is what makes them desirable. Also, the manufacturer is lawfully required to market them as pistols.
  15. I'm not sure I would be so quick to throw away a behavioral advantage that is millions of years old just because for the past hundred years the limiting factor on population growth is how inconvenienced people feel by children and not how many wombs there are about.
  16. What was the reasoning behind twin engines? Were the Soviet turbojets not reliable enough to ensure a single-engined bird would keep flying in hot and high environments?
  17. I also raised chickens as a lad. I found them mean, stupid, dirty, murderous, rapey, suicidal, wholly unsuited to independent living, and cuddly.
  18. Not to burst your bubble, but that's an M59, not an M113. Do not feel too bad; they are all featureless boxes on tracks.
  19. Panther design would have begun before the Germans would have encountered the Sherman, but it would be interesting to see if the Sherman influenced its design at all. It was clearly a response to the T-34; that much is obvious.
