It seem that so far it was more or less the same reason you gave above.
To remind that if chemical weapons are used there will be retaliations.

By Jean-Yves Le Drian (French minister of foreign affairs):

    Meaning:

The goal of this operation was to destroy the clandestine chemical weapons  facility of the Bachar Al-Assad's regime, the objective have been met. A good part of his chemical arsenal have been destroyed, many by the strikes of this night.
Bachar Al-Assad and his allies will need to remember that. If the red line was crossed again, there would be another intervention, but I think they'll understand the lesson.

Appart from the political point of view, I think the strikes also served as training.
Apparently the 3 MdCN were fired by 3 different frigates, so it will serve as a validation of the capability and to label the missile as combat proven.

    Same for the Air strikes.
The Rafales carrying the missiles are two seaters and flew from Saint-Dizier which mean that they are the strategic squadron 1/4 Gascogne:

The SCALP they fired this time is almost identical the ASMPA (300 kt warhead) they would fire for nuclear dissuasion.
So it most likely served as a demonstration of nuclear dissuasion capability.
In the French doctrine those missiles, supposed to be aimed at a threatening military force, are the last warning before full retaliation with SLBM.

Apparently the aerial strike force was composed of 5 Rafale (firing 9 SCALP), covered by 4 Mirage 2000 and 2 E3-F SDCA AWACS and refuelled by 5 C-135FR.

I have my own version, with blackjack and hookers - in reality, outside of theatrical perfomances of politicains this chemical attack or "chemical attack" doesn't matter as attack didn't killed\"killed" more than any other serious weapon system killed in Syria, it didn't changed anything from military POV, it didn't brought down human rights or dignity more than artillery did in Eastern Ghouta. Now we have this theater of hollowbodied bastards the real event doesn't matter for them either. It is simulacrum that exist outside of an actual event.

Well budget, what else can I say
What more shocking is that's the state of the most prominent European army, the UK being mostly on par.

When Merkel say that she won't strike as well in Syria, it's mostly because she can't (both politically and technically given the state of the German forces).

Also the stock is that low partly because those ~50 missiles only represent the first batch  being delivered since January 2017.
It will always be time to increase the order after that.

Problem is if we fire them all now, we won't be able to strike later before some time (or with increased risks for our forces) which take an option out of the table for our foreign politics before the next batch is delivered.

Torsion bar, likely because of the increased weight of the M18 (T70) over the T49 & T67, and front drive because of weight (re) distribution, and it allowed the engine and transmission to be easily serviced/replaced as independent units. (the engine and trans will "slide out" on tracks.).

I added several new buttons to the text editor.  There are now options to change background color (please use sparingly), font, justify text and "page."  I have no fucking clue what that one does, so if anyone can figure it out I will be much obliged.

    Sarkozy has been indicted

Basically it mean that the judge think that there is enough preliminary evidences to think he is guilty.
Which mean that the investigation will go on and may end up with a trial.

He is charged with passive corruption (he took the money without being asked a specific favour), illegal campaign funding and illegally handling public Libyan funds.

You can see in some of the pictures in the T-14 thread that the side armor under the top run of the track is ridiculously thick.  Any sort of external suspension would probably have taken up too much room there.  So that is one advantage of torsion bars.

Aside from that, hydropneumatic seems generally superior.  I'm not even sure that it's more expensive.  Some modern torsion bars are made of very fancy and expensive VIM/VAR or electroslag steels.  I suspect (but don't know for sure) that the reason the Leo 2 and Abrams have nearly double the range of motion in their suspensions is that their torsion bars are made of these low-fatigue steels.

I don't know why the independent external coil spring suspension wasn't more popular.  It seems like a good and logical design.  The US T49 tank destroyer prototype used it:

And as you can see, it also had a rear sprocket drive.  But the production M18 Hellcat went with torsion bars and a frontal drive sprocket for reasons I do not ken.

It's not a very big deal.
Every body know that Sarkozy was corrupt/stole public money.
It's just that so far he managed to squeeze himself between the bars, either by putting the blame on somebody else, through procedural error or lack of evidences.

This time they seem to have to substantial evidences against him so we will see.

But his party Les Républicains (republican right wing, more or less equivalent of Republicans in the US) have a long history of being corrupt and stealing public money.
And it's only getting worse since de Gaulle left the power.
Chirac stole public money, Sarkozy did, Fillon did and countless others.
Nothing out of the ordinary really, but they still have people to vote for them anyway.

Now things are changing a bit since the election of Macron.
Basically he took the centrist electors and politicians from both the traditional left (PS) and right (Les Républicains).
So what used to be the two major party in the 5th Republic are dying by getting more and more radical and getting closer to the extremes (which will IMO only make them die faster). But they have to do it because they don't have any political space left between the center and the extremes.

But as far as taking bribes from a foreign power goes, I think Sarkozy was the first elected president to do that.
Marine le Pen was also very close to Russia in the last campaign but hopefully she wasn't elected.

Allegedly around 5 millions € in cash (which is way above the 4600 € max for a private donator) and possibly more through other ways.
Also 5 millions more would have put Sarkozy above the maximum expense allowed for the 2007 election (apart from the fact that it was potential bribery from a foreign country)

All photos were taken by myself in year 2016 during my visit to Beijing. Tanks are from the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution and the Tank Museum(currently closed). Enjoy.

No.1: Type 94 Light armored car (Tankette) in the Tank Museum

This is the early version of the Type 94 Tankette. It was found in a river in 1970s. It is the best preserved Type 94 Tankette in the world.

No.2: Type 97 Medium Tank in the Tank Museum

This is a late version Type 97 medium tank. It carries the old small 57mm gun turret but has the revised engine ventilation port. This tank was donated by the Soviet 7th mechanized division  before they withdrew from China in 1955.

No.3: Type 97 Medium Tank Kai in the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution

This Type 97 Medium Tank Kai's combat serial number is 102. It belonged to the former China North-East tank regiment. It took part in the attack of Jinzhou against KMT army on 1948-9-14, and did great contribution for knocking out their bunkers and MG nests by shooting and ramming. Thus after the battle this tank was awarded with an honored name:"The Hero(功臣号)“ About the tank itself, it was assembled by the Chinese army themselves by using destroyed or damaged Chi-Ha parts after the surrender of Japan. This particular tank was built up with a normal Type 97's chassis(57mm gun version) early model, and a Type 97 Kai's Shinhoto(New turret for the 47mm gun). However there are other saying claim that this tank was modified by the Japanese. It was the first tank that roared over the Tiananmen Square during the Founding Ceremony of China on 1949-10-1.

The same tank on 1949-10-1. China's tank army origins from old IJA tanks.

No.4: Type 97 Medium Tank in the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution

Sorry, only one photo was taken. This Type 97 Medium Tank has a chassis from Type 97 Medium Tank Kai and a turret from a normal Type 97 Medium Tank. It was merged together by the Chinese army.

No.5: Type 95 Armored Track(Train track) Vehicle in the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution

Only two samples survived. One is in China here and one is in Kubinka, Russia (Maybe now it is transfered to the Patriot Park? I don't know).

Hope you enjoy the photos I took! No repost to other places without my permission.

Personally I would say that the persons who cares will get involved with the education of their kids, regardless of the system they chose.
I've been in the public system for my entire studies and a good part of why I (and my siblings) did rather well is that I had two parents at home ready to help me with my homework after school, especially at young age.

But that's a small nuance I make, since purposely choosing homeschooling (which must be quite a time investment for the parents) is already a proof that you care about your kid's education.

    Well don't be sorry^^
That's your opinion and you know your educational system better than I do.
