If they lost AAV-SU as well then whatever chance they had at winning the MPF selection went with it. This years AUSA will hopefully have an update.

Edit: A report linked in Solomon's comments.

They basically ended up being way too expensive.

Iron Fist on an AMPV. I like the hull option a lot more than trying to squeeze it on the Bradley's turret.

Single-pin tracks are much harder to break by torsional forces on the track, thanks to the large number and size of points where the pin is subjected to shear forces under such a loading.

Double-pin tracks are easier to break by loading like this as they only have the center guide connector and end connectors.

That in my opinion is the case. I Don't have any hard evidence to back it up right now.
This is also in my opinion why single-pin tracks are preferred for hard, broken ground where the track is liable to ride on large rocks unevenly, applying torsion to the track.

Proper, god-fearing Soviet tanks use four-stroke diesel engines.  When the tank is cruising, the engine should be happy and produce very little smoke.  But when the engine is suddenly changing RPM, the fuel/air mix usually isn't quite right, and there will be some un-burned fuel that creates the clouds of black smoke.  If you watch videos of Soviet tanks they usually smoke a bit whenever they turn, because Soviet tank steering mechanisms don't maintain the same average track velocity when the tank turns, which means that the engine changes RPM.  It's the same thing as the puff of smoke you usually see big rig semis produce when they accelerate.

The Kharkov design bureau favored two-stroke diesel engines for their tanks.  The advantage of a two-stroke diesel is that it produces a lot more power for a given size and weight of engine than a four-stroke diesel.  In theory they are also more fuel-efficient, although I am not sure they are in practice.  The disadvantage is... well, there are lots of disadvantages.

One other quirk of two-stroke diesels is that they aren't lubricated the same way as four-stroke diesel engines.  A normal four-stroke engine has separate oil and fuel.  You fill up your car with gas, and every once in a while you check the oil and replace the oil.

Two-stroke motors aren't like that.  They don't have separate fuel and lubrication systems.  Think of a chainsaw; the fuel and lubrication oil are mixed together, and the moving parts of the engine are lubricated using this fuel/oil mixture.  This further reduces the size of the engine, but it means that there's a bunch of oil mixed in with the fuel, which tends to produce a blue or white smoke as the motor runs.

If you look at pictures of Chieftains on parade, they're usually surrounded with a blue/white smoke for the same reason.

That Stryker with the Iron Curtain seriously look like an agricultural vehicle meant to spray insecticide on a farmer's crops. Seriously, I've never seen an APS so ungainly.

Speaking of weird APSes, I remember at one point AMRDEC was studying an airbag-type APS (called ABAPS) concept for US AFVs that was only rated for RPGs (ATGMs were understandably too much). Was it ever tested in real life or did the engineers fail to go past the laughing-out-loud phase?

Well the history of the AMX 10 program is quite complicated (at least for the AMX 10 RC).
At first (1960) it was planned to have an all tracked family with the ERAC (Engin de Reconnaissance Amphibie Chenillé == Tracked Amphibious Reconnaissance Vehicle) as a recce vehicle with a 90mm gun fitted in an oscillating turret. Studies were pushed towards a 105mm gun system with an ongoing competition between the APX and the EFAB engineers teams for the ammunition. The ERAC was dropped when the specifications were more demanding and other weapon systems were considered. The ECA (Engin de Combat Amphibie == Amphibious Fighting Vehicle) did not last long (mid 60s) but was considered with a wide range of weapon systems ranging from conventional 105mm gun to conventional anti-tank missile with the tube launched ACRA missile system inbetween.
In the end, the development of the AMX 10 P seems to be uneventful compared to the AMX 10 RC which ended up being based on the AMX 10 P in order to reduce possession cost and ease of maintenance.

Just a nagmash pikud, a quick Google search tells me it's called M577 in english as someone said.

I didn't go inside the Ofek for obvious reasons, but from what I've seen it looked nothing ground breaking just a heavier nagmash pikud. I know littile of command APCs to be honest.

The guy in the pic is trying the refuel the damn thing, considering the two back refueling ports are gone due to the superstructure, it took him some time xD

During the late 70’s, an attempt was made to use the AMX-10P as a light recce tank, the AMX-10C :

A wheeled chassis was preferred as the successor of the EBRC. This is the AMX-10RC.

An APC/IFV version was available : the AMX-10RTT wich never found any customers.

An interesting concept was the Mars-15 family :

It was introduced in 1987 as a successor of the AMX-13 for export market by Creusot-Loire Industrie (It was specifically designed to be produced by the customer’s industry.).
In 1990, when CLI was purchased by GIAT Industries, it was killed. The latter considered it wasn’t possible to promote simultaneously a light tracked AFV family for export market, and the idea that wheeled AFV can performed as tracked one for the French Army.
We have to remind it was forbidden by the 90’s, to talk about any tracked solution to succeed to the old AMX-10PH (even if the purchase of CV90 was considered in case of Leclerc MBT victory in the Swedish market.).

BAE will now display a CV90 at Land Forces 2018, having been “asked” to. No word on what scale, though!

So, the lineup (for Land Forces 18) will be GD’s Apollo, BAE CV90, K21, and Rheinmetall Lynx.

From a maturity point of view, the ASCOD (+)/AJAX (-) family has a range of qualified variants entering service with the British Army. Lynx remains relatively immature, and CV90 has a couple of concept demonstrators of non-IFV variants. This field is in stark contrast to the Phase 2 competitors (in-service hulls & turrets, though not necessarily in the combinations offered), though the timeline is a bit longer.

Here’s some pics that I took in 2016, when the competition for Phase 2 was heating up & BAE were showcasing the turret commonality with the AMV35. This vehicle was on loan from the Dutch (RNLA).
