More info on DM73, KE2020Neo, Rh130mm and MGCS.
- Super confirmed that DM73 is the same good old DM53/63 projectile and sabot but with more powerful propellant. Existing DM63 rounds can be upgraded to DM73. 8 Percent performance improvement over DM63.
- KE2020Neo will get a new "DM" designation in 2-3 years, mass production expected for 2025. Entirely new design both for projectile and sabot. Design is not yet finalized.
- There is not enough info currently to simulate T-14 armor for trials and experiments with the new ammo.
- Rh130 has 50 percent more chamber volume than 120mm, and also 15 percent higher pressure tolerance, producing an undisclosed higher muzzle velocity.
- The intended tank engagement range with 130mm APFSDS is 4-4.5km. Engineers doubt that APFSDS can be effective at that range vs moving targets, perhaps guided munitions might be more efficient.

I don't have my sources handy, but it's a simple thin plate of HHA spaced out by an inch or so. It mostly works on the same principles as Ye Olde Schurzen, with the high hardness steel tilting the round and forcing it to impact sideways on the base plate. And by 30mm fire, they mean the old 3UBR6 APBC, which is hardly a terrifying round.

Reading the Feb issue of DTR, it is asserted there is a tungsten version ofvthe M829A4 called AKE-T (Advanced Kinetic Energy - Tungsten).

https://www.defensenews.com/land/2021/03/01/us-armys-newest-tracked-vehicle-will-undergo-initial-operational-test-in-early-2022/
The Army said in a recent statement to Defense News that, overall, the 2019 test was a success and the fixes included “minor movement of mission equipment packages to reduce interference” and in the medical evacuation variant, “improvements in operating the litter lift system and medical treatment table.”
The design updates “were determined to be quick wins and have either already been incorporated into the first low-rate initial production AMPVs or will be implemented prior to the First Unit Equipped,” the Army program office said.

Video that peaked my interest so I though I'd share.
It's the SEPv2 tanks from 2-12 Cav conducting gunnery in Poland, but they have the counterweights for Trophy on. Just some good views of the chunky Abrams.

Not sure if this has been posted here before, if so, forgive me.
https://patents.google.com/patent/US6662726B1/en?oq=US+6%2c662%2c726+B1
This is a patent by General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems Inc for a kinetic energy penetrator.
The initial filing date is 03/08/2000 and the patent was publicized 12/16/2003, which matches up very closely with the M829A3 program. I believe this patent shows the design behind M829A3, feel free to read through and draw you own conclusions.
Things I noted:
The round is shown defeating what appears to be dual-flyer plate ERA It is said to have a tungsten tip and DU main rod, as opposed to the conventional idea that the tip is steel

Spoilering it because it's huge, but here's a good image showing how the armor was added on the M1A2C.
