Donward
As someone who lived through the 1990s and seen all the gimmicks of virtual reality not pan out it is no surprise to see how the cover of Time Magazine has presented the current state of the technology's progress. Don't be this guy.

Scolopax
Yep, and a quick search shows that the internet is already making it one of those trendy may-mays.
CrashbotUS
I remember being all excited about VR back in the 90s. Needless to say that excitement waned almost immediately after putting on a pair of those goggles.

Brick Fight
I don't think VR will ever be able to penetrate the shame threshold to make it anything more than a gimmicky toy.

FaustianQ
I'm going to be a bit of a devils advocate here and say that your 90s experience with "VR" is nontransferable to the experience now. VRs biggest stumbling block is that the technology for real VR is still quite away, like 4-5 years away considering estimates on what's required to fool a human brain; turns out the brain is already running a VR simulation and doesn't take kindly to your bullshit. Donward
It looks like Microsoft is bound and determined to get into the VR scheme. Microsoft wins patent on HaloLens design. The devices, along with the bulk of their technical specifications, have been kept under wraps, with scripted demonstrations for analysts, journalists and developers held in rooms watched by private security guards. The San Jose Mercury news has a better article here. http://www.mercurynews.com/business/ci_27373809/magid-microsoft-hololens-is-more-exciting-than-apple
LoooSeR
Amount of those holo/VR goggles/glasses is becoming substantial, but how many of those were sold to actual consumers? They are (for me) in the same area as driving wheels for race/cars games. Donward and Tied
