Karden decided to shove PYa mag into GSh-18 with interesting results...

Despite different dimensions of mags and different geometry, it works well with only problem being slide not being open after last round.

GSh-18 with PYa mag inserted and second photo - original GSh-18 mag for comparison

As already mentioned, the AM / AMB-17 compact rifles represent the development of the theme of the "plastic" automatic rifle MA shown last year, AMB-17 claims to be a modern competitor to the Val family / "Vintorez".

I'd happily buy either, if they did not have that boogerpicker triggerguard, or if the one (Viking) did not have a rail.

I expect to be Looser´d here, but what the hell is that gun?

Just a guess but it looks like a home-made bloop of some kind, manually cocked and safed by the "mushroom" like the old Manville guns.

I just got a chance to try one of the Wolf-branded Taiwanese Type-91 uppers.

Reliability is... inconclusive.  The upper did not work well with either of the two lowers I tried it with, but at least one of the lowers was out of spec (Ruger).  The problems encountered with the second lower may have been the result of operator error.  Testing is ongoing.

The gas system of the Type-91 is really quite nifty.  The gas regulator, piston, and some springs and various other fiddly bits are contained inside a thin steel tube.  Getting them out is easy enough, but requires deliberate motion.  This means that the gun doesn't puke a bunch of spring-loaded gas system parts all over the place as soon as you remove the regulator.

But, at the end of the day, this nifty carbine-ish length gas piston system weighs 7 ounces, while a rifle length AR-15 gas tube weighs something like 1 ounce.
