Defence Standard 05-101, May 2005. Proof of ordnance, munitions, armour, and explosives.
Includes proof pressures of the 120mm L30A1, AS90 155, 27mm Mauser, 30mm ADEN, and more along with the methodologies and testing measure used.
Older version of 05-101 it seems, another proof or ordnance paper that parallels 05-101 but from 1996.
Still contains the 120mm L30A1 and so forth.
no access to any of those

Where is this found? As far as I know the 'requirement' was there but I don't recall seeing something about the actual implementation of the requirement
Chieftain replacement report AT milestone two SR(L) 4026,Chieftain replacement EPC paper and other reports

It was the aim of the British to improve the ballistic protection of the hull (glacis) "to a minimum of 500 mm" RHAe KE on a future "Challenger II and III" :
and there is british reports with "can we really do that?" so...

considering that there was also a scandal with Greek penetrated turret with israeli APFSDS, all those numbers pretty much useless
14 minutes ago, Laviduce said:"similar or never far behind"
it also could mean that both tanks have very low protection for example

and this is BS for example, no any advantage over T-80U/UD at the moment

ok, UK docs, Taylor CR2 book, etc.:
frontal packs of turret much smaller with huge weak zones + there is no proves that any real improvement was made for front hull armour since CR1

what you identify there as "plate" in the top picture is actually the ceramic-based add-on module
it's not, if you look carefuly you will understand why

Do we have some confirmation from some source that the thickness is indeed the same?

Well, judging from pictures the Kurganets UFP could be 30-60mm of aluminium
UFP is same as BMP-3

Same protection levels as BMP-3, but in bigger package. Excellent new tech right here, heh.
part of front can be a bit stronger than BMP-3, but due to impossibility installation of ERA on front...kinda... BMP3+ERA(can swim with ERA)+APS and no need in any kurgovnec

yes, it's old pic

I would like to take a look at those photos, seems interesting. I never heard about that there were photos of ZTZ99's protection test.

The shelling test was conducted on a modified type 69 tank (with A LOT of additional add on composite amour and ERA to represent a T-80U).
not very interesting test, but real tank(Tyep99) test in interesting, there was also photos of ballistic test of type 99 UFP, is there any info about this test ?

The side plates reportedly have a thickness of 38 mm, so they are not that thin. However the plates added to the frontal hull and turret are apparently thinner (as the slope helps increasing effective thickness).
32mm IIRC, and belly plate 9,5mm(don't know from what it could protect...)
