In Vietnam not only because of the lack of RWR was the issue.
Check the loadouts of F-105, A-6, A-4, A-7, F-4s and other planes what carried and from where.

The range + loadout for the F-104 was simply not in the scale what US demanded. They built large and expensive plane to themselves compared to rest of the world in the '60s.
The smaller F-104, A-4 and other planes were just heritage of the past. Until the F-16 I cannot recall any US supersonic fighter which was under 10 tons empty weight.

    Some variant T-72 (60/105/50 - 72AV?)

2 stroke diesels used in Tanks and APC's has a separate oil sump just like on a 4 stroke, it is not a moped engine. 2 strokes smoke more because of larger injectors and they always have pressure charged intake air by a compressor / Roots Blower. They usually have more torque at low RPM compared to a 4 stroke.

Not enirely. Pretty much all tanks of the last combination (with Type C armor in hull and turret) were upgraded to the Leopard 2A5/2A6 standard. There is at least one still in existence (IIRC kept at the BAAINBw as a reference). Most of the Swiss Panzer 87 were also made using this armor standard, though these are obviously not ex-German.

Also there remains the question about the internal armor arrays of the 8th batch tanks, which at least also featured Type D skirt armor. Like the previous ones, they were later converted into Leopard 2A5/2A6 tanks.

As far as I can tell, no old Leopard 2 tank with Type B armor was retrofitted with Type C during the upgrade to the Leopard 2A4 standard.

This thread sure was an exhaustive read.

It raised me few questions / conclusions:

Regarding the ex- Bundeswehr surplus 2 A4 around the world  - at least three different hull / turret armor combinations can be around:

B/B - Any given vehicle from the first five batches B/C - Vehicles up to the fourth batch, which have been turret donors for vehicles from batches six to eight (C [or even D?] tech hulls which were used as basis for 2 A5's ) in the 90's, and have received a later C-tech turret in exchange C/C - late fifth batch vehicles Does this make sense? I am assuming that the B/B vehicles were not upgraded with C-series armour, when bringing them up to 2 A4 specification - do we have any conclusive evidence that would suggest pre-sixth batch 2 A4's receiving armour upgrades?

For attention and eye candy, I drop you a single Finnish LEO 2A4 URDAN from Armoured Engineer Co in ARROW 19 FTX, from my personal album.

Glattrohr reacted to LostCosmonaut in The Thorotrast Tragedy
In modern times, radiation has an important place in medicine. Radiation is used in cancer treatment, as well as imaging techniques such as PET scans and X-Rays. When used in a controlled, well understood manner, nuclear medicine is highly safe and effective.

One of the oldest uses of radioactive compounds is as tracers. Radioactive isotopes are injected, ingested, or otherwise introduced into the body. Their passage throughout the body can then be measured by observing the activity from their decay. How the body processes these elements provides a variety of useful information; one of the most well known uses of radioactive elements is the use of Iodine-131 in diagnosis and treatment of thyroid illnesses.

Thorotrast was one of the earliest radioactive tracer compounds.

A suspension of thorium oxide, Thorotrast was first  developed in the early 1930s, a time when radiation was not as well understood as today. Thorium is notable for its high ability to absorb X-rays. Areas where the body concentrated thorium, such as tumors, would show up well on X-Rays following the ingestion of Thorotrast. Its long biological half life also made it useful. Additionally, while not perfectly safe, thorium is far less toxic than other heavy metals such as lead or uranium.

However, Thorium-232, the most common isotope, is an alpha emitter. Alpha particles (essentially helium-4 nuclei) have very little penetration, thanks to their high electric charge. But the massive size of the alpha particle (compared to other charged particles such as electrons) gives it a high momentum and the ability to cause massive damage if it gets inside the body. According to some studies, alpha particles have anywhere from twice to 100 times the relative biological effectiveness of fast neutrons. Notably, Polonium-210, favored weapon of the FSB, is an alpha emitter.

    As Thorotrast accumulated in various locations in the body, those areas would receive massive radiation doses. And since thorium has a long half life, these effects went unnoticed initially. It is estimated that some patients received doses of up to 3,000 rads in the liver (where Thorotrast would concentrate). This is about eight times the (whole body) dose needed to cause severe ARS. Studies showed significantly higher cancer risks for patients who received Thorotrast;

The use of Thorotrast was discontinued in the 1940s and 1950s once the risks were realized. However, thousands were exposed. While the exact death toll is unknown, it is probable that hundreds or even thousands of additional cancers were caused by Thorotrast usage.

    Other variants
As we can see from model and scheme, they could draw that vehicle. Could Kirov factory actually build it? Well, they have build prototype for testing engine and chassis for heavy IFV variant of their "Leader":

    It can move!

Kirov factory also have build robotizied vehicle for mine clearing in 1988:

And they were planning to introduce this:

Vehicle, based on Object 299 chassis with 30 vertical launching missiles.

In engineers and army thinkers view cannon armed Object 299 should have been supported by those missile tanks. 30 long-range missiles with different warheads, with possible top-attack anti-tank missiles variants, should have increased ability of unit to fight with enemy tanks and long-range ATGM-carrying IFVs. And yes, it have crew of 2.

    End of Part 3.

I'd guess this is at least decade old picture, based on the tankers uniforms and the presence of PSTOHJ82M (9M111-1 Konkurs). The missile was removed from service long ago.
The BMP-2, in other hand, is due to modernization as we speak, and the whole fleet will be upgraded by 2017. I can mash up an article about if you wish?
