Interestingly enough, the photos shown here in the famous IDR article are from the French delegation visit in October 1977, a month before the T-72's first appearance in Red Square...and over a year after the T-64A was first spotted in East Germany in September 1976. The article confirmed that the US and NATO had incorrectly labeled the T-64A, as the T-72.

Example of a turret with fighting compartment that were made to upgrade T-72s and T-80s in Russian stocks:

   New turret had modular frontal armor, allowed to quick replacement if damaged and could be upgraded easily with new packages.
 
   Burlak turret also had a  bustle, space inside of it was used to mount second autoloader and remove number of shells outside of original autoloader from tanks hulls into separated from crew compartment.
 
 
   On top of that turret also was equipped with APS to protect sides and RCWS that original T-72s don't have. Never saw service.

Early Pumas had the Horstman type suspension but upgrades introduced  to the vehicle, included the helical spring style suspension of the Merkava type.

The M60 was still considered an upgradable, if obsolescent, tank. The Centurion was considered obsolete and at the end of its service life.  On the other hand, the torsion bar suspension of the M60 was not as well liked as the Horstmann suspension of the Centurion which was seen as easier to repair and more suited to the rough terrain of the Golan. Given this, it was always more likely that the Centurion would be the vehicle likely to be retasked.

There was a discussion on Tanknet about this particular Centurion. I believe it to be one of the Jordanian Centurions knocked out in 1973. 

I think same conclusion was reached on otvaga.
