The tavor has almost no overtravel, so there's really not much operating margin if conditions start getting tough. The ARX-160 also has almost no overtravel. The SAW is still maintained at the Weapons Company level though to provide light machine gun fire and the USMC still has around 16,000 of them. So, this would give the USMC around 17,000 M27s if this happens. There are currently 24 ACTIVE Infantry Battalions, 3 ACTIVE Recon Battalions and 3 ACTIVE LAR Battalions. So, by my math, this additional 11k will outfit every ACTIVE 0311, 02, 13, 17, 21, 31, 41, 51, 52 and 69 who isn’t carrying something else (e.g.; M240, M40, etc.) or currently in an AR billet assigned and already carrying an IAR.
