Voodoo reacted to Beer in GLORIOUS T-14 ARMATA PICTURES.
I would not dare to say that Objekt-195 was ready. How do we know? I seriously doubt that an early 90' project with unmanned turret would not have serious situation awarness issues. The development of optics, thermals and software made a huge jump since that time and even today we can see that the actual performace of systems depending solely on machine vision is still somewhat doubtful. Also at that time the monstrous 152 mm gun was a an overkill bringing only logistical and practical use issues. IMHO even today it's still not needed.

Voodoo reacted to StrelaCarbon in BlackTailDefense Doesn't Know Shit About Tank Design
This website?
That article was my first encounter with Sparks btw, and I think it's just perfect. Repeat misunderstandings of the way equipment was/is designed and employed, endless use of buzzwords only Sparky and his ilk know, insisting that failed shit from the past was actually great and should be replicated today, childish insults and aspersions about actual officers, ranting and raving about moron historians who he knows so much more than, and the inexplicable pictures of women's cleavage at the bottom. But probably my favorite part is when he praises a U.S. Army turretless light tank concept from the 1930s and its creator, only to trash the medium tanks the U.S. Army actually fought the war with in the same paragraph... apparently blissfully unaware that Gladeon M. Barnes, creator of the conceptual light tank, also was heavily involved in designing the M3 Lee/Grant, M4 Sherman, and others.
Try reading that article and the other ones linked in it if you want a laugh. Or a brain aneurysm.

Voodoo reacted to T___A in Mechanized Warfare is now a moderated subforum
Hey all! T___A here,
You may, or may not be acquainted with me. In case you don't I mostly post in the Soviet Tank thread here in MW. I do read most of the content on the rest forum however. To be frank with you all: I have been disappointed with the quality of this forum. So has @Sturgeon. So our glorious leader in a fit of drunken anger has appointed me the Reich Plenipotentiary for the Administration of the Four Plan of the Final Solution of the shitpoasting question.
Seriously:
Dumbass slap fighting in the wrong thread will no longer be tolerated Neither will anime avatars. This is a rule that not even OG Alter Kämpfers are exempt from. You know who you are and I will be sending a PM to you. As always SH's most important rule applies: referte avt morimini

Voodoo got a reaction from Scav in StuG III Thread (and also other German vehicles I guess)
This is what Frank Lobitz writes in Kampfpanzer Leopard : Entwicklung und Einsatz in der Bubdeswehr(Development and Service in the German Army):
Talking about the 8th production batch:
"In contrast to vehicles of the sixth and seventh production lots, those of the eighth production lot features light side skirts that incorporate D-technology. (KMW)"
Further, he goes on about the prototypes for the 2A5:
"....A maximum of 62.5 tonnes was set as the weight limit. Chief efforts were conducted in the field of armour protection. The add-on armour packages were designed with D-technology(similar to fourth-generation spaced composite armour) and, depending on their location on the vehicle, were either integrated(turret front/chassis) or mounted on the top(turret roof). For the first time add.on armour modules were mounted in front of the original armour of the turret front and chassis, and this changed the appearence of the vehicle significantly."
Sorry for barging in to your conversation and if not understanding your question..

Voodoo got a reaction from Karamazov in The Leopard 2 Thread
Hello, I have been lurking this quality forum for a few months now, and finally got to sign up now.
Can anyone give me any information on this turret? The one on the left has some attachment things and tape(?), while the normal A4 turret on the right doesnt. I can't really make any sense of it. Thanks!

Voodoo got a reaction from Collimatrix in The Leopard 2 Thread
Yeah, the velcro ismost likely for the SAAB Barracuda nets. But the mounts for the add-on armor doesn't really match with the Leopard 2A4M CAN though, as seen here:
I really don't know anything about the turret in my original post. It could be something bought after the Leopard 2 contract, but the rest of the vehicles are from the Netherlands.
