  1. With things like Joe Flynn's PPMT technology you could significantly reduce the strategic resources like copper etc for something like that. He also works with DOD etc already in a number of fields... Joe Flynn Parallel Path technology
  2. While the B21 idea is patently insane, I still perversely like it. Mostly for the heads of state personal air transport arms race I would hope fervently it lead to.... Can you imagine the next G8 Vlad's backfire, Trump's B21, and ... Ummmm well I guess the rest of y'all are boned. But still, the fact remains that this idea is chock full of awesome.
  3. Sturgeon FWIW your reaction matched my own when I learned this...
  4. It just worked out fucking terribly in the instance of Key West. TBH I think that some amount of redundancy and "overlap" when it comes to the military technology the various branches use is a good thing when managed correctly. Especially since it means that a potential foe has to try and engineer systems capable of dealing with multiple multiple approaches to the same problem. It's a fine line though, diversify too much and you water stuff down too much. Diversify too little and ONE really good solution nullifies an entire class or type of system.
  5. Ah ha, shows you guys how much I hunt... Aka basically never! On the plus side I have enough gp11 stocks to use my k31 like a p90 and just keep shooting game until it falls down and dies...
  6. Not to be that douche bag guy but, I'm very happy I bought my stocks of gp11 when it was 55 cents a round or less...
  7. tMy interest with the 231 lies somewhere besides Tommy Boy And Doctor Frankenstein.... Given access to a parts kit... I'd love it stroke it pet it AND RIP IT'S FUCKING INSIDES OUT!!! After the ritual gutting there would be a bunch of digitizing, measuring, weighing, and etc to thoroughly document the cadaver. The parts kit or tolerances TDP parts drawings, materials call outs, and stuff like spring specs are a means to an ends not an ends unto itself. You could say I have several separate projects which would benefit from this, and over the years of constructing some truly epic inbred ugly mutant DIY WECSOG garage guns one lesson that I HAVE finally learned is that it's basically ALWAYS worth it to acquire reference parts samples drawings yadda yadda of an already working project even if only tangentially related to the project you're working towards! Like most garage inventors and fabricators I believe that I have seen the ONE TRUE WAY FORWARD... (Yes I'm aware this makes me a genius, a fool, or an inbred cousin fucker cum gunsmite named Bubba) I will say though, that fool and inbred cousin fucker gunsmite named Bubba are pretty damn unlikely at this point even if you only consider how much Tony and the Gerpesher crew love to fucking hate and contradict me... I think even our dear leader, sturgeon, will be nothing short of shocked to see what I bring into the light once it's ready... Just to whet your appetites though the first round of things I'm likely to take public have the following names and acronyms Autopod IWM: IWM= Individual weapon mechanical Autopod IWE: individual weapon electronic Autopod CSM: Crew served mechanical Autopod CSE: ... Electronic Iw/csw HOTAS ... There's also a hunter killer development spiral. Sorta one of the reasons I thank God for being self educated and spending my young life too broke to just go out and buy brand new machine tools.
  8. Swizzlestick link Basically guys I'm looking for anything and EVERYTHING related to this project or follow on efforts that may have come out of this! Patents, test documentation, technical data, brochures, and etc are all welcomed and desired. At one point I had found one other document about another project based on the same development that I think had a DTIC ADA PDF file name but found on some random site. Unfortunately the PDF didn't save for some reason, the bookmark didn't stay, and I can't find anything even going through Chrome's history! The rocket in question was 1 inch in diameter, 4 feet long, and weighed about 2 pounds. It was solid fueled, projected to cost about the same as 30mm hispano suiza ammo, and projected to have like a 1.5 mile range. What makes it special and interesting to me however is that it was hitting 9000 fps in 2000 feet! For a variety of reasons I believe that something based off of this research but using modern manufacturing technology and etc could net some interesting and useful things.
  9. Damnit I like these guys! Saudis are shit bags and it's fun to watch them tormented!
  10. IAnyone whose talked about guns with me very much at all knows I have a total obsession with the designs of Russell S. Robinson, the Beardmore Farquhar machine guns, the XM235/248, the dover devil aka AAI LWGPHMG, the IMP 221/arm gun family, colt Scamp, and M231 port firing weapon / short or no buffer DI AR's. I have a pretty extensive information collection on all of these, but am always looking for more (especially dimensioned parts drawings and etc! I've actually got several design and build projects ongoing that incorporate elements from one or more of the guns listed above.) If you guys want I'll start uploading info from my stash for you guys, if you want you can PM or post requests in this topic and I'll put stuff up. If you guys have information on any of these systems I'd really appreciate anything you can or will share! Things I'm specifically looking for: 1. M231 striker part drawing 2. M231 buffer tube, end cap, elastomeric bumper, nested buffer springs (all 3), handguard, and the qd firing port interface that is pinned over the gas block parts drawings, material call outs, and most especially data on the springs / striker! (Like everyone else and their dog I'm working on several AR15 "improvements" including closed bolt striker fired AR mod... I personally believe that DI operating systems of one sort or another for the individual infantry weapon are the best option for western military rifles due to weight, parts count, manufacturing costs, and other factors,!) 3. Interdynamics MKR drawing missing from the mkr PDF in Sturgeon's upload folder. 4. Imp and scamp dimensioned parts drawings etc. 5. XM235/248 AAI LWGPHMG documentation of ALL sorts especially dimensioned parts drawings and if anyone has even a partial dover devil technical manual... I will murder a bus full of nuns for it! (Not really, of course... The nuns are safe please don't call homeland security) Shirt really anything and everything I can get even tangentially related to stuff on that list is very much of interest to me, so let me know if you find anything please! Things I have: 1. PDF file of both articles from fighting firearms magazine covering Robinson FOOB guns, M73, model 11 pdw etc 2. Supplemental pictures including disassembled Robinson machine gun pics etc. Also a few hit and miss Robinson patents, Colt 1971 double stack combat pistol information packet including the Salvo Squeeze Bore version Robinson developed for it. Colt lightning information packet. Colt EPAM 100+ page proposal documentation. Colt Imp proposal documentation and other small PDF packs about it. Colt 703 high resolution images and basic info. 3. English and German Oerlikon big book 4. I think I have the rheinmetal book too P.S: anyone who wants MIT multifab information... I have pretty much everything you would need to do a full replication and am a good portion of the way can to most of the software too. The multifab is the 3d printer MIT CSAIL built that blows away printers under $250,000 msrp out of $7000 worth of COTS parts. Can even do metamaterials and other really advanced functionality... Really I have a pretty massive treasure trove worth of information sufficient to build Dexter's laboratory piece by piece from scrap metal and occasionally ordered shit from digikey. Just ask if you want something
  11. Walter, I have the blueprints for the Canadian 7.62 NATO M37retrofit if you want them let me know. Sidenote: the Browning 1919/m37 is just outright an awesome gun that you can get to run just about any round between .22 lr and 8x63 Bofors... Including 303 & x54r... I helped a buddy do a x54r version... Fun fact: the Finns even figured out a really simple push feed link to convert mg42's to x54r... Aimo Lahti was a genius.
  12. Colli & Zyklon, I can actually answer this for you guys conclusively. Colli's hypothesis/suspicion that this technique wouldn't work on most Otto cycle engines is 100% accurate. Basically the only engines you can use this technique against are pre distributor cap era carbureted dinosaurs... Magnetos and points are the cause but I am not recollecting exactly why. More or less tthough it's because they pump out a shit ton of dirty rf noise across huge chunks of the spectrum. One of the reasons this was the preferred methodology for this application has to do with c119 flying boxcar and EARLY c47 gunships flown by people who weren't there, out of countries we weren't in, and thus these very deniable and fungible assets were better off with a detection setup that so plausibly deniable.
  13. Toxn, It's pretty funny seeing a link to that site dropped here, especially with the posters who were involved in this thread! The poster ch1446 in another thread on the same site came up with an idea for an unmanned/autonomous weapons system that, at the time, was not feasible but every year since the year when it was posted brings it oh so much closer.... I really hope it's a system that never gets built though, because it would almost certainly bring about an era where any asshole with an ali express account and a black MasterCard could order a literal brutal totalitarian regime starter kit sufficient to dominate a smaller city that flat packs into a single 40 foot shipping container... *shudders* Anyway though, yeah that very much WAS at one point a very interesting place to hang out online!
  14. Damnit!!! Those are such aggressively gun hipster meets SciFi geek chic embodiments of this year's most fashion forward well heeled weapons grade gear queer combat couture!!!! And I NEEEEDDDD THEM!!!! All of them!!! NOW!!
  15. I'm so glad to know there's at least a few other 20 inch bbl a4 style setup or before fans out there .. I'm kinda one of them too, however my fetishistic ideal seems to be for guns that are more diemaco c7a2 than the more staid and conventional a1-a4
  16. Thanks for your willingness to let me know your intentions and letting me know that I might just have half a chance to successfully win if I play my cards right... Realistically I doubt that I can muster sufficient funds to really win the auction considering the sheer number of people who can muster a devastatingly dense federal reserve note throw weights I can't possibly match... But with Alex likely to be sitting out this auction at least I won't get hilariously outbid by guys I occasionally bullshit with here and elsewhere... LOL However some famous and smart dead guy once said that a mans dreams should outreach his means... And FWIW lots a people agree with said dead guy so, at least I can salve my disappointment should I lose with the knowledge that my pursuing my unicorn gun is a noble endeavor or some shit like that LOL anyway, the reason that gun is one of my unicorn guns stems partially from this gun being the product of a self taught pacific northwest eccentric like me who at the very least got to bring something as awesome as a 100% original 7.62 battle rifle design briefly to life and to market... That in itself is a great inspiration and encouraging true to reality reminder that guys like us really can turn an idea and hard work into something real and tangible with enough determination and hard work!!! As if this weren't reason enough to want one though... The rifle this crazy bastard brought to life has some really interesting innovative and outright awesome solutions that really are amazing and very much worth studying even several decades later. For guts like me that's an almost irresistible mix of reasons to covet and list after one to call my own.
  17. The fact that a group as insanely knowledgeable as the posters on this forum are still actively debating said features and the motivation and intent behind them really does say a lot about just how much of a leap forward the Burlington and Burlington derived armor packages truly were. To my mind that alone goes a long way towards justifying the long time even a document like this stayed classified! I'm sure several of you god damn technological wizards will bang out FEA and other analysis tricks and pin down the true reasoning behind the brackets by at the latest three weeks from now, but that's just because you guys are a fucking critical mass of super geniuses that regularly remind us normal genius types that compared to all y'all we're window licking helmet wearing short bus riders ROFL seriously you guys are ... Astounding and I love this place even if it regularly reminds me I'm nowhere near as smart as I think I am LOL
  18. LOL now that sturgeon has shown us his lever action of shame and fuddite tendencies I am much less ashamed of the Winchester 94 and ruger security six that hide in a back corner of my "good" gun safe... LOL I kid of course especially since I came about my Winchester by inheritance and am the third generation owner of said gun which my grandpa bought new a few months before he volunteered for the Navy a few weeks post pearl harbor... All joking aside, it was a proud and extremely memorable day when that gun was entrusted to my care... Especially since it was the last time I got to interact face to face with my grandfather before he passed... Knowing that he was entrusting me with what is essentially the family legacy ... It was an event I'll never ever forget and a duty I'd gladly give my last breath to uphold. I don't own that gun, I'm just holding it for people yet to be born. Maybe I'm weird for ascribing so much meaning to an implement made of wood and steel, but at those times when I miss him and my grandma all I have to do is open my safe and gently remove that gun and an entire youth full of fun, adventure, and learning what it means to be a man comes flooding back.
  19. Holy SHIT!!! Sturgeon I can't possibly compete if you or Alex c intend to bid on this, so please let me know in pm if y'all are bidding because I'd hate to think I actually have a chance to grab this! I've lusted after one for quite awhile now, and I'd even actually start bulk buying 7.62 NATO ammo to feed it if I got it... Breaking my near decade 7.62 NATO boycott! Seriously the hac7 and a transferrable gwinn bushmaster arm gun are my grail guns!... Why these two mid 70's to early 80's mutant weird kid guns are my grail guns is a whole other story, Freud would say it has something to do with Oedipus but fuck Freud truth is I just love oddball quixotic shit because I'm an oddball quixotic guy!
  20. Couldn't possibly agree any more with your reasoning behind the 5.56 being the proper round to use in the list... I'm definitely not one of the people who hates 5.56 in the slightest. I own multiple guns chambered in 5.56 and stock larger supplies of 5.56 at all times than any other round I keep on hand for feeding my personal firearms collection. That being said though, I also don't even pretend that it's perfect in any way. As a design it really does have some inherent flaws and bad compromises. I really wish that the right people would do what it takes to get a better SCHV round designed, adopted, and able to be used by the gun owning public.... That would be a very happy day for me.
  21. Minor quibble There have been at least two such cartridges which have in fact been bested at least twice over it's nearly 6 decade reign... This does not, however diminish it's magnificence The pair of them which I see as plainly and firmly better are 5.45x39 & 5.56x38 FABRL
  22. I gotta say that I'm a huge fan of the A545 rifle... It's like an HK AK... Somewhere some German gun designers are rolling in their precision German made caskets
