  1. I'll see your voyeuristic meat robot companion and raise you... Boston dynamics wildcat When you see a version of this fucker with a tail... Umm honestly you should probably just shit yourself so it doesn't rape you
  2. So what makes me very angry about all this is we could have done a 2 design approach from day one with a smaller SES modular vessel which was minesweeper jhsv and some other complementary roles / fitouts that was still cheap enough in base form to preposition a few of at various places around the globe. (Mostly by building the vast majority as fitted for but not with the expensive shit which would be flown in with the crews from stateside etc module farms similar to PODS storage facilities) And another frigatey thingamafucker without the crazy speed requirements and much longer legs etc. Sorta like the high low gator and blue water concepts LCS metastasized out of.. Except, actually working and good
  3. Yes we agree muchly on the kill the fucking hell out of all the things with squeeze bore deal... Definitely needs a giggle switch and "adjustable anti spinkick" features because... Reasons damnit!! Well... Mostly because Robinson was involved with both concepts (normal pistol that beats smg's and squeeze bore that is. He seemed to be more on the salvo squeeze bore side of things, but jungle combat and post colonialism were the ubiquitous body armor intermediate barriers urban combat and green on blue / sudden jihad syndrome of today!) The squeeze bore adapter deal really is a pretty decent way to cheaply and quickly transition from insurgents and gi joes hijinx to killing people with armor on and some who don't hybrid war with near peers etc. It lets you load predictable to feed and close enough to round nose fmj shaped bullets into the chamber and magically wind up with something that is actually a decent killer by the muzzle. It also doesn't require idiot desk jockeyz or notoriously suspicious of new and different grunts to have uncomfortable feels in reaction to it. What's not to like? (I'm not bagging on soldiers btw, just the private fifth class tom's, valorious', and bring back the m14 1911 and STD's you could cure with antibiotics dickheads)
  4. Apparently green on blue types are like Republican congressmen, George Michael, and child molesters... They like attacking people on the shitter etc... But i guess if you don't drop the soap and keep a communal shower and shitter glock all will be ok
  5. He's totally right, and i hate having to agree with him because my personal preference is always to build the absolute best system we can still mass produce economically.... Which with time and money spent on MHS to get to a contract winner it's unquestionably certain in my mind that a revolutionary pistol ammunition and production technologies to make both could have been brought to life! But realistically, absolutely none of it is needed to do 99% of the tasks this service pistol is being bought to do! Really you just need to counter green on blue, sudden jihad syndrome outbreaks, and be able to shoot your way out of a sitdown with local warlords... This basically precludes the need to penetrate even soft armor almost entirely, same with the need to shoot past 15 meters at absolutely worst! (Truthfully most non snake eater pistol use in the GWOT has been at closer to 15cm than 15 meters, so there goes red dots roland specials and major power factor / MV over 1400 fps!) Between the above factors and JAG saying fuck it to forbidding jhp plus the womenfolk situation i totally see why a hilariously high bore axis boring modular pistol in stupid 9 & 40 is fine... I don't like it but i get it! Given my druthers we'd have ended up with a 7-8mm round loosely based off 7 penna and 7.92 vbr (likely using a fully developed version of Van Bruane Rik's GP AP pistol ammo concepts as GI ammo) with very high MV's and total projectile weights of no more than 95 grains. By very high i mean make 7.62 tokarev look SLOW high... We'd fire this out of a rotating barrel multilug short recoil pistol designed with a nearly inline feedpath like bubbits designed for the enhanced caracals and a capacity of 17-21+1 in a magazine with dimensions similar to g19 mags and height from baseplate to top of rear sight that's g19 height or less! Additionally great care would be taken to "cheat" the point of the gripframe where your thumb wraps around and the trigger placement specifically to make a true double column magazine pistol still capable of fitting very small hands with the smallest backstrap and grip panel option. It would very probably also have a bbl length that is shockingly long for the overall length of the gun to achieve the very high MV's even in compact versions. Said long bbl would also get help from something along the lines of the CT ammo nose cap which would function as a pseudosabot type deal as well as making the bullet nose less pointy and likely to gall gouge or etc internals of the pistols. The ammunition would almost certainly use a newer case technology like ultrathin wall stainless or polymers. Either way utilizing coatings etc to get best powder burn efficiency at acceptable heat transfer, peak pressure, and residual pressure after bullet exits the muzzle... I'm not too concerned at all about either throat erosion or other wear characteristics because very good coatings and fairly ubiquitous automated barrel reconditioning and repair gear is about to be a very real thing... See this years NDIA presentation coverage on TFB for specifics. The barrel would also be very likely to have mild taper bore characteristics and if necessary gain twist rifling. How the f*** do you think you can justify going so fancy on the barrel? Simple, in a very real way the barrel makes or breaks this gun and will likely be a major portion of the manufacturing costs per pistol. The rest of it is pretty well tailored to be very very cheap to make, and frankly the barrels will be cheap to repair almost indefinitely once the resources are in place. The slide will take several cues from the gsh-18 including being primarily "stamped" from a single piece of heavy gauge steel along with integrating a similar second set of radial bbl lugs with a "bbl bushing" having similar cutouts to gsh-18. From there there'd basically be a fuck ton of potential fitout options and degrees of complexity/ feature integration, but overall you'd end up with something smaller, lighter, cheaper, and far deadlier than current offerings.
  6. Woohoo.... And the butthurt shall flow like fine wine at an orgy thrown by Nero... Private fifth class... Errr ... Major tom will say retarded shit That other guy like pf5c tom will say something that tops even toms stupidity 22windbag will tell everyone the program will fail anyway because they aren't using ammunition that costs as many dollars as the bullet weighs in grains Iksnilol will find a way to make the whole issue homoerotic And a good time will be had by all
  7. That is so the perfect ride for dark lord Putin...
  8. Honestly CNN kicked itself in it's own front hole pretty hard with the whole threatening to not only dox meme poster if he didn't apologize etc thing... But where they really fucked up was with their bitchy sword of Damocles we reserve the right to fuck said poster at any time from now until forever bullshit! That's essentially them taking sides in a way they can't take back, and i look forward to the day some group absolutely WRECKS a CNN field team and the world shrugs it's shoulders and gives no fucks! In journalism you have one and only one shield that keeps you from being a legitimate target, and that is maintaining at least the thin veneer of not having chosen sides. Between this incident and everything else lately they've essentially thrown that away... Call me a conspiracy tard if you like but i have a hard time not seeing all this as something someone has made a decision to attempt to capitalize on... Likely at the cost of the lives of several CNN employees WHEN the inevitable incident occurs! This is afterall one of the go to strategies in the radical lefty playbook, aka do everything possible to all but guarantee that a group of "expendable" to them but hyped up as a protected and completely inexcusable to commit violence against group will be targeted... And then hold the usual feting and 3 days of enforced mourning with daily reminders for years after of the "senseless tragedy" all to social engineer a blackmail situation with which to force the proles and anyone with the good sense to oppose them into silence with! Problem is, their usual tricks aren't working all that well anymore. All in all this makes for a spectacular time to go back to school or go job hunting if you currently work for CNN before your boss shoves you dick first into a meat grinder on purpose!
  9. You make a valid point.... Only Californians would buy gold spraypaint. I stand by my statement about the neighbors poisoning them though. If you've ever seen half the neighbors parked along one side of the road picking free berries of one sort or another, that's a pretty solid indicator of a group who understands opportunity crimes!
  10. What's funny is they actually think their neighbors don't hate them... The fact that nobody saw nuffin and the police have no suspects says everything since there's pretty much always people up and around all night around here... Says it all... Hope you like that almond taste in your cookie and baked goods offerings, pay no attention to the horizontal grooves forming in your fingernails...
  11. Note to self... Spray paint not getting message across... Next time use napalm and road flares!! No, seriously Californians we fucking hate you! If your shit driving wasn't enough, the effective tripling of rent prices and the even more asinine building of 700 unit apartment complexes with zero fucking parking DEFINITELY gives us valid reason to hate you!
  12. Well, i mean the dems basically announced their intention to do just such election fucking well before hillary was even in trouble severely in polls anywhere... Here, now there's pretty much democrats circle jerking and openly discussing election fraud strategies etc in every corner of the internet they hang out in... Which, personally im fine with, because the effect its having on any even moderately intelligent non diehard demtard is... Not in their favor... To say the least ROFL... At this point things are on track to get really ugly or really quiet in the runup to next election season... And I'm fine with whichever way they choose to play it, probably because either way ill be getting something i want out of the deal
  13. Eh, I was young and dumb once and in the wake of the whole gunfight at the cholo corral bullshit where I somehow survived even though I was using a cheap ass $179 Astra a100 and 115 grain surplus fmj I went WAAAYYY OUT to the other extreme and wound up with a five 7 a ps90 an f2000 a Sig 226 "special stupid duper seal team thix" special edition and loaded the damn things all with stupid expensive ammo over the course of the next couple years... Then I realized that spending $1000 on two different pistols and more than a grand on a 22 mag subgun with delusions of grandeur while my actual rifles cost nothing near that much! I'm not saying any of them are bad guns in the slightest, I liked and still occasionally miss all of them. But with my income tax bracket, coupled with my poor natural hand eye coordination, and my need to be gun Noah (2 of ALL THE THINGS) it just wasn't really fiscally prudent. Nor did it show proper weighting of priorities / I was not spending money on parts of the hobby I liked so I could afford to keep stuff I didn't need. Now, my obsession with rotating barrel locking system short recoil pistols is much more rooted in the practical. I know that I'm never going to be anything but a half decent pistolero, but the two things that would immensely help me and my shooting are low bore axis guns with fairly long barrels/thin grips over true double stack mag and a higher velocity flatter shooting lower recoil round. I see the rotating barrel locking system guns as most likely to fit my needs/have actions that will be conducive of cheating some key dimensions and geometry in order to fit rounds with a smaller diameter but longer COAL than 9x19 (likely riding a sabot). I'm proceeding with a definite end state in mind at least...
  14. Yeah but someone is already making an 80% registered component... If Sig can be not stupid and play Glocks gouging game they have real potential for becoming very very strong in the pistol market... I still won't buy one, but I'm a minority in feeling that way. When I can carry a full size or compact pistol though I pretty much never carry anything but my Grand powers anymore. I have a total obsession with the rotating barrel short recoil mechanism though and would like to collect at least one of each of the rapidly expanding modern designs using variations of this system. There's quite a damn lot of them though, and more every year! (Thank god too because tilting barrel short recoil presents quite a few issues these days with the stuff people expect out of pistols)
  15. The cost per actual pistol in the Sig contract made me wish that the army would let us get in on a group buy... $216 or something like that! I'd buy 3 just for the hell of it at that price!
  16. Yes I've been watching that one with interest. With how important the Pacific is to the US and how likely it is that we're going to face some sort of fight there, I think that at least some investment in Seaplane technology would be a very smart hedge bet. Essentially when it's pretty much a given that at least some of our long term bases etc in the area are very likely to be pasted in the first minutes of any confrontation.
  17. I don't know why but seaplanes fascinate me and I wish we had kept developing them in the west.
  18. Xoon, Thank you very much for this PDF! It's extremely useful, thought provoking, informative, and the focused comprehensiveness in it's coverage of hybrid vehicles for military use without the extraneous stuff that doesn't apply. (like self congratulatory smug preachiness, moral exceptionalism, and the other bullshit topics about hybrid anything attract) As I'm reading it, I am actually gaining clarity on stuff that resources like technology of tanks only managed to confuse and frustrate me about even further. There are several people off this site I'd like to pass a copy of this to if you are OK with my doing so.
  19. Agreed, between the fact that the barreled actions are almost always modified and standard military issue muzzle devices etc swapped out for commercially produced parts whose design function and aesthetics are completely without any guidelines other than "you must turn in ALL original parts issued with the gun if returning an issue weapon to the armory for repair or replacement" .... We have no actual 100% verifiable information with which to make anything other than a wild ass guess to the gun's specifics! Other than that it is a member of the SVD design based family.
  20. If we could see the magazine well and magazine in the gun at the time of picture taking we would have no problem identifying what model it began life as before conversion, the country of origin, and caliber the gun. From there it would drastically simplify identifying the company that produced the chassis, country of chassis origin, and specific make and model of chassis / which factory options etc it has. The whole process would take 10 minutes... This though.... This is hard
  21. Looser I'm 95% certain that it's an SVD barreled action installed in a chassis system that completely replaces more iconic and recognizable dragunov / furniture sets that made it so very easy identify each variant / model by the furniture sets used . In Russia alone there's several different commercial and or aftermarket chassis systems available for purchase! Throw in those made in former wp nations which had domestic SVD production or just large stores of them collecting dust in the corner of arms warehouses etc, and the total number of production chassis systems is likely to be staggering! It kind of looks as though the barrel may be shortened as well.
  22. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ALAS_(missile) how do you guys feel about something like this thing? Were on the doorstep of very very good optics technology, hyperspectral imaging, and etc being very cheap and able to be packed into single sensors that can capture the entire visible light spectrum plus some IR UV and other spectra in one whack and all the stuff we've worked out to get computers to drive missiles not conscripts with joysticks and their ass in the breeze... Combined with people getting caught radiating getting killed by snapshots or even automated responses, I am of the opinion that the west could and probably should invest in things like really really advanced EFOGM
  23. I'm a terrible person for this... But oh well... Make America Sick Again... MASA? Damn democrats and their constant plotting to reinstate slavery! Which, honestly isn't even remotely untrue enough to be really funny... I will never understand that sick codependent and abusive relationship either...
  24. The idea of mine clearing with guns has been back in vogue and being talked about lately by NSWC and etc. Specifically they've been talking about supercavitating ammunition designs able to be used in 5.56 all the way up to the Bushmaster autocannon families. At the time I kinda just assumed it was people covering for the little crappy ship being useless as a minesweeper by acting like autocannons and helicopter mounted MG'S could kinda clear mines... It still blows my mind that they wanted a fast minesweeper they could use for other stuff and did all the studies etc with SES ships like the Skjold, INCLUDING a joint project with umoe which determined that an SES minesweeper gained a double digit percentage resistance to mine damage etc over other hull types. And then they bought two horrible designs that even they admitted would be shit minesweepers when they acknowledged that shock testing the LCS ships would do far too much damage!
  25. Yeah, I figured that someone sufficiently determined could pretty much figure out almost all the dimensions etc to pretty high accuracy and a very high confidence in their findings with the information available etc... It would involve more pixel counting and other arcane ways of photogrammatry I believe it's called than I want to do (aka determining dimensions distances etc from a photograph which also involves discerning as much as possible about where the camera was in relation to the object etc)
