Khand-e
Different subject. I don't like the RDB's trigger. It's light, but it doesn't telegraph when it's going to break and I don't like that. Wait, hold on, hold on. If you're telling me that Kel-Tec somehow managed to make a gun with a poor trigger (or other flimsy parts), I will shit my brain out my mouth in fucking disbelief. Sturgeon
Also, Desert Tech is advertising an unloaded weight for the MDR of 7.1lbs for the 7.62 version. I... Would love to verify that.
Sturgeon
Super-high-res image of a SIG MCX (which I believe is a pre-production version): The MCX is interesting because it looks like a possible actual improvement over the AR-15. The receiver is lower-cost, the wear parts are more durable and replaceable, and it gets rid of the buffer tube. Oh, and it's mah-jew-luhr, whatever that means. Not huge improvements over the AR, but still significant. If Congress ordered the Army to adopt a new rifle tomorrow, they could probably do a lot worse than the MCX as a replacement. The MCX was designed for the somewhat cryptic Low Visibility Assault Weapon bid, which it won. That program is so opaque, I don't even know what agency issued it. Oddly, the MCX has a bunch of features requested through the Integrated Receiver Group project (that's why it has a replaceable cam track and forward assist, all-steel feed ramps, and can be mounted to AR-15 lowers), so I don't know whether it was designed for IRG first or LVAW, or whether SIG came up with those features by themselves and IRG was structured around the MCX to allow it to win. I know very little about IRG, as well.Another huge photo of an MCX (again, pretty sure it's a pre-production dealie), and a Reddit thread about it:

D.E. Watters
I once stumbled across a former Remington executive's page where he claimed to have worked on the LVAW proposal for the Combat Applications Group. Remington's LVAW submission would have been the AAC Honey Badger. Sturgeon
Tied
Czechfags BTFO the vz.58 is a great gun to shoot, and the fact that you can load it from strippers and buy parts kits dirt cheap in the United States is just icing on the cake, but im not surprised that it fared worse than a Kalashnikov pattern rifle then again, you can only get so much out of these tests. But i do tend to get alot more out of this one than the Ak vs Ar-15 test. At-least this time we have two vary similar designs with similar quality builds and one is decisively worse Then again, not all guns are created equal blahblahblah dont pour mud into it blahblahblah
Collimatrix
VZ-58's open receiver design makes it more vulnerable to mud than an AK or an AR. There's just more ways for shit to get in. Like everything it's a tradeoff. The design makes it lighter and makes stovepipes extremely unlikely. If I had to guess, the VZ has a lot less bolt carrier KE to work with than an AK, and it uses it less efficiently. The lack of anti-preengagement means that the locking piece lobes grind something fierce against the receiver rails, and unsurprisingly the rifle fails to go into battery in the tests. Sturgeon
I once stumbled across a former Remington executive's page where he claimed to have worked on the LVAW proposal for the Combat Applications Group. Remington's LVAW submission would have been the AAC Honey Badger. My understanding is that the HB was tested by the groups concerned, and they returned with "this is great, now you need to change this, this, this, and this", and that became LVAW. So Honey Badger Mk. II would have been their submission, but, according to Kevin Brittingham, Remington basically dropped development. The SIG MCX was designed, and Kevin gave it the name "Black Mamba" that has been repeated in a few media outlets, and it won the contract. Jeeps_Guns_Tanks
From the political perspective, the whole issue of gun control seems like such a losing issue for the Democrats and it has been for twenty years that I am astounded why they keep running with it. The 1994 Republican Revolution was a large part due to the Brady Bill/Assault Weapons ban. Algore losing his home state of Tennessee in the 2000 election was entirely due to his support of gun control. The fact that the majority of governors, state legislatures and now the US Senate and House of Representatives are in the hands of the GOP is in great part due to the perception that Obama wants to take away our guns. I really honestly don't get the political upside when there are Democrats who are gun owners and - fuck - the guy who I think will actually be the next Presidential nominee for the Democrats Bernie Sanders is somewhat pro-gun despite being a raving Socialist who looks like he eats his own scabs. Yep, if most democrats politicians were not such stupid cunts about gun control, and would just fucking drop it, they would be much more electable. Just like the republicans politicians should just accept gay rights and abortion.
