Note that the glove vanes (little folding canard thingies) are deployed. It's rare to see pictures of tomcats with the wing gloves out, since they only deploy at high speeds and the USN wired them shut to reduce maintenance requirements. Such nozzles are heavier and less efficient, however they can slightly reduce subsonic drag, and Sukhoi stated that they dramatically reduce infra-red signature.
