Syrian tanks at war. Some pictures and words between them.

Syrian, Iraqi or Lebanese (or even Russian?) modernisation of BRDM-2, used in Syria by either Liwa Al-Quds, or other pro-Syrian unit. It is hard to tell, because those vehicles were spotted with Liwa Al-Quds, but Al-Quds members said that they don't have much of vehicles except of 1-2 tanks.

This photo is from Aleppo airport.

HMGs (Kords?) and AGS automatic grenade launchers, slat armor, some of those BRDMs also have side doors, observation cameras. Looks like rather well made modification.

And second photo/selfie shows people in full bodyarmor, helmets and AK-74s, which is unusual for SAA, and almost non-existent in Liwa Al-Quds.

Is the thermal imager really made in North-Korea? I know that they produce their local copy of the KDT laser rangefinder, but in 2014 even their "premium" tanks were fitted with IR illuminators instead of thermal imagers.

Looks like you were right - it is not exactly North Korean, but localy made thermal imager using avaliable parts (unknown). Latest version is called Viper.

Early version of Viper:

This tank have everything, Sarab-1 (or Eagle eye) and Viper.

Detection range - max 4 km for "big objects" (i guess AFVs) and 1.5-2 km max for infantry.
