   A senior Iranian official said on Thursday during a visit to Syria that Tehran will consider sending more soldiers, if Damascus asks for help.

   "If Syria makes a request (for Iranian forces), we will study the request and take a decision," said Boroujerdi Alaedin, chairman of the national security and foreign policy of the Iranian parliament.

   "It is important that Iran is committed to the fight against terrorism," he added. "We provide assistance, weapons and advisers to Syria and Iraq."
