Vanagandr
Now in the Steam store; a romantic comedy about ships of wood, sails of cloth, and men of iron (if you know what I mean). Very beautiful game but the grind is real and it can take an obnoxious amount of time to get from one point to another. Chief selling points are 'age of sail', trading mechanics (which will hopefully become less broken), and very pretty. Sturgeon
Sturgeon
Thanks for the heads-up, Van!
xthetenth
I kind of want it just because the Steam logo art is so lovely. Sturgeon
SuperComrade
You have to grind for a $54.99 game?
Bronezhilet
Looks interesting, lets give it a shot.
CrashbotUS
Looks pretty. Might try it out, I really dig this period of naval warfare.
Waffentrager
Asking for too much for an Un finished title. And the price is only to go higher up when it's closer to completion according to the Devs.
Vanagandr
The price is definitely high, but there's not that many alternatives if you want to get your sail on. I was reading the Hornblower series when I saw it, and no force in heaven or hell could save my wallet at that point. If anyone does want to add me, my in-game is Fenrir, sailing for US because I'm mainstream, unoriginal, and boring.
CrashbotUS
The Minister of Finance has put a cap on my video game budget this year. I have to use it sparingly.
Belesarius
Yeah, $54.99 US is a bit much for me at the moment. Maybe if it goes on sale on steam at a later point. I want to get Battlefleet Gothic first. CrashbotUS and xthetenth
EnsignExpendable
Looks kind of okay if it was something like Pirates! but holy shit, I don't want to pay $55 for a grindfest.

xthetenth
I want to get Battlefleet Gothic first. Hell yes, I've wanted that game for a long goddamn time. (Also don't look up the sins mod on the subject, the engine wasn't right for it and I wasn't really good with game mechanics back then). Jeeps_Guns_Tanks
This game looks amazing, but its to rich for me right now. And how much of a grind we talking about? Am I looking at months and months of play to just get a frigate?
Vanagandr
It's not quite months to get a frigate, but you spend more time in a cutter than you would like. I'd guesstimate it might be 15 minutes per battle, 70 xp per battle, 1000 xp to reach junior lt, another 1000 xp to reach second lt, 1500 to reach first lt, and then you can finally fully crew a frigate. I got a frigate by my second day I think, but I put in a looot of time into it those two days.
RobotMinisterofTrueKorea
I've been enjoying it a lot myself. The combat is very fun, sailing around looking for battles in PvE is pretty cool. The ships themselves are absolutely incredible looking, and visually the battles are very impressive. Agreed on the price though.
Jeeps_Guns_Tanks
How in depth are the mechanics?
Vanagandr
You can control the aft and stern rigs manually and independently in square rigged ships in order to tack more efficiently, individual gun decks can be toggled to fire or not during broadsides, ranging shots are a mechanic, shots under the waterline will cause water to pour in if you're listing to that side, and WoT style penetration mechanics. Most unrealistic thing currently is the physics for ramming, and following that, that your crew cannot be told to fire when the guns bear, but it's really the most realistic age of sail game that could be hoped for I think.
