Sturgeon
General Petraeus used an XM8! It counts!
Meplat
Lol. Issue weapons only. For some advanced examples, you could try for a U.S. proofed Ross, or M1891 MN/ "Model of 1916".
Sturgeon
BTW, according to Jim Schatz, the rifle in this picture is almost certainly Gen. Petraeus' XM8:Note that this is the XM8 Compact Carbine, the 9" barreled variant, and it is pretty darn fat.

Tied
Looks cool.. And you can swing the melting barrel in the face of an enemy during melee combat
Meplat
So it's at best what, two ounces lighter and still shackled with that wacky plastic interlocking magazine? Yeah, that sounds like a thoroughly "valid" reason to totally disrupt the logistical pyramid. Really, the people who were pimping the XM8, did they even consider the how the slightest change in a platform causes all kinds of supply and logistical headaches? Sturgeon
Yeah, 60 grams lighter in a comparable configuration even with the fancy combined optic in lieu of a PEQ-2 and Aimpoint. Not exactly a resounding triumph considering the M4 has a heavier barrel that is 2" longer, and is saddled with the antiquated KAC rail. Sturgeon
Also, to be perfectly fair the M4 at the time weighed 4.29 kg with a PEQ-2, not the more current PEQ-15 I have it listed with in that chart.

Donward
I've always talked myself out of buying a Nagant revolver, usually for responsible financial reasons, even though they're so damn affordable. Or were. Not sure what the current market is.
Alex C.
You can get a Makarov or Tokarev for about the same price these days, and both are better cheap combloc options.

And seem to have been made with far better quality control. Many of the Nagant revolvers I saw had terrible actions or were out of time. I've seen only a couple bad Tokarevs (both early Chinese imports) and I've never come across a bad Makarov.(Just a few that had terribly ugly finishes). Or were. Not sure what the current market is. Believe it or not im not a huge Nagant revolver fan. Outside of collecting them I don't consider them to be excellent firearms in general let alone their quality control issues
