Advanced Russian spy plane arrives in Syria

 

 

 

  Latakia, Syria (10:25 A.M.) – One of the Russian Air Force’s most advanced spy planes has arrived in the Latakia Governorate today after leaving the country following the implementation of the nationwide ceasefire agreement in March.

 

   The Russian manufactured “Tupolev Tu-214R” has reportedly flown to the Humaymim Military Base that is located just outside the Syrian coastal city of Jableh in southern Latakia.

 

   Considered one of the Russian Air Force’s most elite spy planes, the Tu-214R will likely be used to track terrorist movements around the country, which is similar to what is was originally used for before the ceasefire agreement.

 

   According to the Aviationist:

“The aircraft is known to carry sensor packages to perform ELINT (Electronic Intelligence) and SIGINT (Signal Intelligence) missions: the antennae of the Tu-214R can intercept the signals emitted by the enemy systems (radars, aircraft, radios, combat vehicles, mobile phones etc) so as it can build the EOB (Electronic Order of Battle) of the enemy forces: where the enemy forces are operating, what kind of equipment they are using and, by eavesdropping into their radio/phone communications, what they are doing and what will be their next move.”

 

   The Tu-214R’s arrived to the Humaymim Military Base at 3:23 A.M. today.

Syrian captures Shalaf village in northern Latakia

 

 

  Latakia, Syria (11:15 A.M.) – The Syrian Marines, backed by the Desert Hawks Brigade and National Defense Forces (NDF), imposed full control over the village of Shalaf this morning after launching a new offensive to capture the key mountaintop town of Kinsibba in northern Latakia.

 

   According to a military source in the Latakia Governorate, the Syrian Armed Forces began their assault on Friday by firing a barrage of artillery shells and missiles towards Jaysh Al-Fateh’s positions at Shalaf village.

 

   Following the bombardment, the Syrian Armed Forces stormed the village, killing a half-dozen militants from Jaysh Al-Fateh before taking full control of Shalaf.

 

   The village of Shalaf is located just south of Kinsibba; it was recently lost to the jihadist rebels of Jaysh Al-Fateh after the latter launching a counter-offensive to reclaim all of the territory they lost to the Syrian Armed Forces.

 

   If the Syrian Armed Forces make the push to capture Kinsibba today, they will have to do it quickly because if they are unable to seize the hilltops surrounding the town, they will be easy targets for Jaysh Al-Fateh missiles and snipers.
