Syrian Army captures important district in Aleppo City

Cob1-rdWgAEn0ak.jpg

The Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division is now in full control of the Bani Za’id District of Aleppo City after the jihadist rebels from Fatah Halab abandoned their positions on Wednesday evening.

Unlike the Al-Layramoun District, Fatah Halab could not maintain their ground in Bani Za’id for very long because they no longer possessed the high ground and they were at the mercy of the Syrian Arab Army’s guided missiles.

In fact, if the jihadist rebels had not strategically pulled out of the district, they would have suffered a significant number of casualties.

However, the loss of the Bani Za’id District is one of the biggest defeats the jihadist rebels have suffered this year; and its aftermath will likely be felt in the coming days, as the Syrian Armed Forces push further east towards Bustan Al-Basha.

Making matters worse for the jihadist rebels, the Syrian Armed Forces are reportedly storming the Dahret ‘Abdrubbah area of Aleppo City, which is located on the doorsteps of the Bani Za’id District.

With no reinforcements and limited provisions, the situation for the jihadist rebels has become dire and hopeless.

Will look for confirmation.

Jihadist rebels begin new offensive in northeast Latakia

Latakia, Syria (5:00 A.M.) The jihadist rebels of Jaysh Al-Fateh, led by Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, launched a new offensive on Wednesday night to capture the Zuwayqat Mountains and its surrounding points in the northeastern countryside of the Latakia Governorate.

According to an Al-Masdar field correspondent in the Latakia Governorate, Jabhat Al-Nusra and their allies stormed Tal Zuwayqat on the Kabbani axis tonight, resulting in a fierce battle with the Syrian Arab Army’s Republican Guard forces and Marines.

Despite some claims made by Syrian opposition activists, the jihadist rebels have not captured anything in the Zuwayqat Mountains, including Point 1154.

While the battle is still ongoing at the moment, sources from the Syrian Arab Army have asserted that no ground has been lost to the jihadist rebels and that they have suffered minimal casualties.

The Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) is currently launching airstrikes against the jihadist rebels in order to weaken their resolve and help drive them back from the Zuwayqat Mountains.

Jaysh Al-Fateh captures mountaintop in northeast Latakia

Latakia, Syria (7:09 A.M.) Jaysh Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest), led by Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group), launched a second round of attacks at the Zuwayqat Mountains of northeast Latakia on Thursday morning after the first assault was repelled by Syrian Armed Forces.

The second assault on the Zuwayqat Mountains would prove successful for Jaysh Al-Fateh, as they were able to force the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) to withdraw south in order to avoid being overrun.

The official statement released by Jabhat Al-Nusra that confirms their capture of the Zuwayqat Mountains in northeast Latakia.

Despite capturing the Zuwayqat Mountains on Thursday morning; it will be very difficult for Jaysh Al-Fateh to maintain control over it without seizing points that surround the mountaintop.

In response to Jaysh Al-Fateh’s success, the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAF) has launched a second round of airstrikes over the key town of Kabbani,  as their allies on the ground attempt to regroup.

Syrian Army allows besieged Aleppo civilians passage to safety

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Fatah Halab militants agreed on Thursday to allow civilians still living in the eastern district of Aleppo to travel to a non-combat zone inside the province.

According to Aleppo-based field correspondent, Kinana Alloush, the Syrian Arab Army will provide a safe passage from the Bustan Al-Basha District for civilians still living in the rebel areas.

In addition to this agreement, the Syrian Armed Forces and Islamist rebels are negotiating a deal that would allow a safe passage to the Bustan Al-Basha District for the remaining Fatah Halab militants trapped inside Bani Za’id.

Currently, the Syrian Armed Forces control 50% of the Bani Za’id District; however, the remaining 50% has been mostly abandoned by Fatah Halab.

The Syrian Arab Army’s engineering units are combing through several neighborhoods in the Bani Za’id District, as they search for hidden IEDs and mines placed by the Islamist rebels.

Jaysh Al-Fateh amassing fighters for new southern Aleppo offensive

Reports have emerged this morning of a large Jaysh Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest) force amassing in the southern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate in order to continue their long-awaited offensive at Al-Hadher.

A source from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) confirmed to Al-Masdar on Thursday morning that Jaysh Al-Fateh is indeed preparing for a massive offensive in both southern and western Aleppo.

These jihadist offensives are meant to alleviate the pressure applied by the Syrian Arab Army on the northern districts of Aleppo City; however, this is likely too late after the government forces seized almost all of the key Bani Za’id Quarter on Wednesday.

Jaysh Al-Fateh’s primary target will be the strategic hilltop village of Al-Hadher, which has been under the Syrian Arab Army’s control since January; it has been heavily fortified since then.

Previously, Jaysh Al-Fateh mobilized a large force to capture Tal Al-‘Eis and its surrounding villages in May; but, this will be a different battle because Hezbollah and the Iraqi paramilitary units are no longer spread across Aleppo.

The date for this upcoming offensive is still unknown.
