Here's the overall shape of things:

 

 

ISIS has been chased out of the majority of the large population centers they once held.  The SDF and SAA are in a race to recover as much ISIS territory as possible.  A lot of the trackless desert they're recovering now consists of oil fields, and controlling those would put them in a better bargaining position for the delicate post-war negotiations.

 

The combat on the banks of the Euphrates is still significant; ISIS has been badly mauled, but they still have fight left in them.

 

 

Russian strategic bombers have been flying many missions in support of troops fighting along the Euphrates:
 

 

 

There have been reports of Chinese troops in Syria, but they are fake news.
