Laser Shark got a reaction from Clan_Ghost_Bear in The Leopard 2 Thread
The first of six LEGUAN Leopard 2 AVLB have been delivered to Norway. Note that they will reuse the LEGUAN bridges of the current Leo 1 based NM190.

Laser Shark reacted to Rico in The Leopard 2 Thread
Having only one system makes absolutely sense since it shares HIM, eases maintenance
and the lithium pack reduces weight, noise and thermal emissions. Only reason for an APU would be if the AVLB needs long term 17kW power for silent watch which is not the case.
We are currently having that discussion as well. Some are aiming towards APU because that is already in use but I think that the diesel engine will not be availble in the future anymore. Lithium is clearly the path to go for - on my opinion.

The AVLBs won’t be transferred to the Army before 2023-24, so it’s possible that this won’t be it’s final configuration. That said, I do find it weird that it doesn’t have APB instead of APU already. Even if it wasn’t necessary to reduce the weight of this vehicle (???), you’d think it would still be a good idea to standardise on one solution.

A bit late, but OCCAR has contracted ARTEC to develop and produce prototypes of the new JFSTsw (Joint Fire Support Team schwer) variant of the Boxer for the German Army. The equipment is a bit odd, common German parts (FLW 200 RWS, BAA II sight by Hensoldt) have been replaced by foreign ones (Kongsberg's M153 Protector RWS and Thales' PAAG sight) - suggesting that there might be a plan to export it:
Older concept version with FLW 200 and BAA II sight:
Meanwhile Rheinmetall and the Bundeswehr are celebrating the Marder's 50th birthday (quite bit later than they should have).
The Puma there is equipped with the TSWA, which the German Army plans to field with the Puma S2 upgrade:

A Boeing-led team will demonstrate a new high-speed air-breathing projectile for the Army as soon as next summer, a company official said last week.
The Ramjet 155 — which Boeing is co-developing with BAE Systems and Norwegian munitions company Nammo — is progressing through development and will be ready for its first launch from an L39 cannon next year, said Dan Palmeter, Boeing’s capture team lead for the project.

Laser Shark got a reaction from Rico in General AFV Thread
Another update regarding the Norwegian tank replacement project (P 9360).
The cost limit has been revealed to be around 19.3 billion NOK or 2.3 billion USD. That’s almost double the sum that was mentioned a year ago. Now this might be a result of lifetime costs being included and/or because parts of the production line is expected to be moved to Norway, but with an increase like that, I can’t help but wonder if they aren’t also planning on acquiring more tanks than the often quoted “84” number, which would basically only allow for a single squadron of 18 tanks for each of the 4 (current and planned) mechanized battalions of Brigade Nord.
In any case, from the part below, it seems pretty clear that this contest won’t simply be determined by who earns the highest marks during the upcoming winter trials in Norway:
“The procurement is carried out as a competition between two suppliers from Germany and South Korea, respectively. The choice of supplier will be based on the tender that offers the best overall outcome in regards to, among other things, operational, logistical, mercantile, industrial and security policy criteria.”
And further:
“The Ministry of Defense has initiated an inter-governmental dialogue with Germany and South Korea, respectively, with the intention of establishing a government agreement, where relevant elements are security policy issues, logistics cooperation, operational military cooperation, opportunities for government-to-government cooperation, opening of the supplier country's defense market for Norwegian weapons systems. products, strategic cooperation between Norwegian industrial companies and the supplier country's industry, etc. The content of the government agreement will form an important part of the decision basis for choosing a supplier.”
A final decision and contract is expected next year according to the same document, but that seems a bit optimistic to me. Hope to be proven wrong, however.
