and those 200+ is LOS of inclined( + inclined cut) front cast, physical thickness will be less p.s if barrel profile is closer to m256 than to rh120, then it all can be much thinner, i.e diam in same area will be 206-215 not 270 which still will be in range with old estimate3 points

The K2 recently had a demonstration in Romania. Roughly translating ProPatria MApN, "Earlier this week, at the Centrul Secundar de Instruire pentru Luptă Smârdan, a firing demonstration took place with the Main Battle Tank K-2 Black Panther, developed by Hyundai Rotem, South Korea." I don't know about the M41, but in M48 & M60 series, the heater was a separate unit from the engine. It was mounted in the front of the hull in the drivers compartment on M60s. The heater exhaust is the pipe on the right side of the tank, over the front fender.1 point -

always though that L2A5/6 loader side roof plates was addons over old roof like on upper pic, but seems instead they made those plates as cavity covers, strange solutions, especially considering the fact that 2A6HEL doesn't have those thanks to @skylancer-3441 for photo1 point

Boxer HEL/"Jupiter" that is being tested jointly developed and by the Netherlands (energy storage and cooling systems) and Germany (effector). The laser is based on the system that has been tested on the Sachsen-class frigates, but operates at a lower power (10 kW) to reduce energy consumption. https://defence-network.com/jupiter-gtk-boxer-mit-laserwaffe/ Rheinmetall had already presented a first HEL effector on Boxer (with just 5 kW output) back in 2013.1 point

Also a picture of the CR3 model is going around. Shows what looks like applique armour on the turret and UFP, as well as LWRs on the front corners. Also looks like there is a stowage bin on the roof next to the gunner's sight, though hard to say with so few pixels.1 point -

"Between Jan and Dec 2001, 45 Abrams tanks suffered fires during training, some were damaged, some were destroyed entirely. Over the tank's life at that point (22 yrs), there had been >600 fires - that's almost 10% of the fleet had..." https://www.nist.gov/system/files/documents/el/fire_research/Finnerty-Fires-Experienced-and-Halon-1310-Fire-suppression-systems-in-current-weapon-Systems.pdf An examination of data from peacetime fire incidents experienced by ground vehicles reveals several facets pertinent to this study. In Table 1, peacetime fire incident data for the M1/M1A1 tank for the years 1988, 1989, 1990 and the fires six months of 1991 have been summarized. These data show that the AFES system was only activated 71 percent of the time for M1/M1A1 fires and was adequate to extinguish the fire by itself only 34 percent of the time. so how many tanks actually burned ?1 point
