EnsignExpendable
A tidbit from Andrei Ulanov The precision of the MKb 42(H) at ranges of 100, 300, and 500 meters is 1.5 times worse than that of the American M1 carbine. In automatic fire, the precision of the MKb 42 (H) is unsatisfactory (a burst can't be caught by a 1.5 x 1.5 meter target at 100 meters). The reliability of the automatic mechanism has not been determined. The design of the sample is complex, but the widespread use of stamped parts deserves attention. The Germans had similar complaints about the design. Sturgeon

The ACR trials final summary is also there. It describes all of the candidates, even those that didn't make it to the trials. Mind you, there are two copies; one is a crappy photocopy, while the other looks like it was scanned from an original. I think this is the correct one. Let me see if I can find it on DTIC. Interesting. I’ve worked with Chris Wachsberger over the years - this is the same guy that spend years trying to get unitary vision/1x optics on every weapon as “only binoculars can be used to acquire targets”.
