Iranian Ababil 3 UAV launching Spike-looking ATGM.

Spoiler

Note that it is pretty accurate and have 4th gen ATGM capabilities like Spike. Interesting if Iranians have ground version of that ATGM.

In 2017 this missile was shown to Iranian officials.

That's a big piece of ordnance to have a misfire and fly across the airfield.

... and only thanks to the change of direction by the empty tanker it didn't hit French C-130.

Meanwhile it appears that the rocket hit a house of the base commander and killed his two children...

   Short overview of Soviet VTOLs

And additional comment by author to clarify few things:

Quote

A couple extra points that have been brought up in the comments are the YAK-41/F-35B connection and that the harrier has nothing to do with the F-35B design. The first one is that Lockheed bought the tech from YAK. Well, the rotating nozzle (three-bearing swivel duct or 3BSD) was designed in the US in the 1960s by Pratt & Whitney for the Convair Model 200 but the project was not continued. The Soviet version appears to be a very similar setup and they were the first to fly this type of rotating nozzle but Lockhead had resurrected the 1960 US design for the F-35B before the YAK intervention. Lockheed wanted the flight information so see how they worked in an operational aircraft and Yakovlev needed the cash in the newly market driven Russia after the Russian Navy cancelled the contract.
As for the Harrier, this is my take on it in that the Harrier proved you could run the whole VTOL setup with a single-engine were as all the other setups had used multiple engines which tended to burn up the runways and landing areas with the hot exhaust. The F-35B uses an engine-driven cold air fan for half of the lift which greatly reduces this effect thought it can still burn the runway at the other end of the plane if it hovers low down for too long.

A Mi-35M crash-landed in Crimea. One pilot allegedly died.

An absolutely brutal bird strike on Spanish A400M (allegedly vulture)

And few pics of airliners hit on Tripoli Mitiga airport by LNA shelling. At least the A320 looks like it was operational before.

Airbus Germany created an ethical committee for the development of the FCAS.

http://www.fcas-forum.eu/en

It'll mostly focus on the AI aspect of the project.

Don't know what will come out of it since it's a purely Airbus initiative (and only it's German division apparently) but it may be worth watching from time to time to see what they publish.

Airbus is responsible of the UAV and the shared data management system parts of the program.

Egypt signed a contract with the Russian Federation for the supply of 26 Su-35 fighters
Egyptian authorities decided to purchase the largest batch of Russian-made Su-35 fighters. It is about acquiring at least 26 planes. The first two fighters of the Egyptian Air Force will receive before the end of this year.

Egypt will purchase from Russia at least 26 Su-35 fighters in the next three years. According to the contract, the supply of 26 fighters should be realized before 2023.

Egypt will become the first state in the Middle East to receive those modern Russian-made combat aircraft, and the second foreign state to have Russian Su-35s, writes Avia.pro.

The United States refused to sell its fifth generation fighters to Egypt. Cairo could have acquired Russian aircraft before, but Washington threatened sanctions for the acquisition of Russian weapons.

Cairo needs reliable fighters against the background of the rearmament of Israel, Egypt needs aircraft that can withstand the F-16 and F-35. The amount of the contract was not disclosed, but we can talk about 3 billion dollars.

Footage of the tragic accident of Canadian Snowbirds display team. It looks to me like if the engine lost thrust after the take-off and pilots tried to gain as much altitude as possible with the remaining speed but nevertheless ejected too low. The old CT-114 clearly doesn't have 0/0 ejecting seats.

It looks like the reason for the crash was a bird strike.

A sort-of confirmation that LMUR have thermal imager seeker and is fire and forget. Text says about goal of design work was to provide Mi-28NM electronics ability to use Multi-purpose guiaded missile (LMUR) with thermal imaging seeker (ГСН in the text translates something like "self-homing seeker/warhead").

Sweden intend to develop a new aircraft:

Quote

When it comes to the Air Force the current fighter JAS 39 C/D will be maintained, as the new fighter JAS 39 E is integrated into the squadrons and becomes operational. This allows the Air Force to keep six fighter squadrons. The development of the next generation fighter aircraft will also commence.

That would made yet another European aircraft project competing with the other two (FCAS and Tempest) -_-

Possibly they'll use the technological block used in the development of the Tempest (since Sweden is nominally part of the UK-Italian project) to develop a sort of next gen Gripen (in the cheap but still capable sense).

Full statement here (New ships, more planes kept in service, increased conscription, cyber defence, etc) :
