Here are the reasons.   1) It might make Americans sympathetic to Philippines President Duterte. That's because Duterte = Trump > Hitler.   2) Because we have our own news story

Some guy took a selfie with the hijacker:

OK, by now you may have seen news announcing that Xi Jinping has removed the term limits on the Chinese presidency and how this now makes him a strongman who will oppress the gays and Tibetians, blah blah blah.

I didn't sit through a bunch of boring-ass lectures on the role of yellow journalism in the Spanish-American War so I could fall for the exact same shit one hundred and twenty years later.  This is sensationalism, pure and simple.

The actual event has long since occurred.  The title of the presidency in China is largely ceremonial.  Deng Xaioping (PBUH) never held the official title of President or Premier or even Party Secretary, but everyone knew that he was the motherfucker what's in charge.

QED, if Xi Jinping is changing the constitution now, it's because he has already consolidated his power.  Do you seriously think he'd reveal his master-stroke if there remained the slightest chance of anyone affecting its outcome? He did it years ago.  Behind closed doors.

So I guess Snopes "fact checked" a Babylon Bee article mocking CNN which resulted in a temporary "strike" being handed to the satire site by Facebook which threatened to demonetize its FB page.

Babylon Bee has responded with an other totally schnerious article stating that Snopes is starting up a fact-checking site to fact check Snopes articles...

I like how it's highlighted that Facebook politically manipulates its news stories.

Also rain is wet and ducks like bread. More news at 7.

In other news, the northern states (I mean, truly northern) get shafted again by a horrible winter that has been killing people and livestock. All the while a vegan from San Diego is screaming about how Trump's farts are attributing to climate change.

Relentless winter brings state of emergency to Montana reservations

HELENA – Montana’s governor declared a state of emergency Tuesday on three Indian reservations due to extreme cold, heavy snow and blizzard conditions this winter.

Residents of the Blackfeet reservation just east of Glacier National Park have been struggling all month with loose snow and strong winds causing huge drifts that have shut down travel at times, closed schools and made it difficult to get food and other supplies to the area.

The town of East Glacier, just to the southwest of Browning, has received 80 inches of snow this month, the National Weather Service said. Browning likely received a bit less, but when the wind comes up it blows around causing whiteout conditions along with bitter cold wind chill temperatures and snowdrifts.

“There are 20-foot drifts in some places,” said Robert DesRosier, emergency manager for the Blackfeet Tribe. “We have 12- to 15-foot deep drifts over 100 yards long.”

Plows are detouring through prairies to get around some drifted-in areas, he said.

“We’ve had to cut fences and go across country,” DesRosier said.

The tribe was on day 16 of its current storm Tuesday and has had a command post open for 10 days to organize food deliveries and answer other calls for help, he said.

Plows had made some progress clearing roads Monday, “but we lost it all overnight,” to the wind, he said..

One family was snowed in for three days because they were unable to open their doors. Others crawled out of their windows to get out of the house, he said. Ranchers have lost newborn calves.

The state Department of Transportation has sent in extra crews with rotary plows and other heavy equipment to help with the ongoing effort.

Gov. Steve Bullock declared a state of emergency on the Blackfeet reservation along with the Fort Belknap and Northern Cheyenne reservations, also in northern Montana; as well as Glacier and Golden Valley counties. The Blackfeet had declared their own state of emergency in early January and it’s still in effect, DesRosier said.

The town of Heart Butte, in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains on the southern end of the reservation, has been isolated at times. School has been canceled 12 of the past 14 school days, Superintendent Lee Folley said.

Getting food and other supplies to the reservation has happened in fits and starts, he said.

Some people did get out Monday to go shopping and stock up. Poverty on the reservation prevents some others from doing the same.

“This is a very strong community and they take care of each other,” said Folley, who has lived in Heart Butte for 18 months.

One rancher contacted him about getting some diesel fuel the school has for buses so he can get food to his livestock.

“He lost a calf last night,” Folley said, adding that he’s concerned the weather forecast calls for another foot of snow this weekend.

“Then it’s going to start the cycle all over again,” he said.

Speaking of climate change, proof that the Russians hacked the election and helped Donald Trump shitpoasted on social media in support of environmentalist groups opposed to domestic oil and energy production. At the end of this report, are a series of memes shared by the Russkies on Facebook and Twitter. Take note of the number of reactions they got...

And here's the actual House staff report on the subject.

https://science.house.gov/sites/republicans.science.house.gov/files/documents/SST Staff Report - Russian Attempts to Influence U.S. Domestic Energy Markets by Exploiting Social Media 03.01.18.pdf

"Documents that the American social media companies produced for the Committee confirmed that Russian agents were exploiting American social media platforms in an effort to disrupt domestic energy markets, suppress research and development of fossil-fuels, and stymie efforts to expand the use of natural gas."

"According to the media report, Russian agents exploited Instagram by “shar[ing] images related to Native American social and political issues—including the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline.”4 Moreover, many of the Russian-linked accounts targeted “highly visible tension points” in America, including “protests against pipelines.”

Between 2015 and 2017, there were an estimated 9,097 Russian posts or tweets regarding U.S. energy policy or a current energy event on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Between 2015 and 2017, there were an estimated 4,334 IRA accounts across Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

According to information provided by Twitter, more than four percent of all IRA tweets were related to energy or environmental issues, a significant portion of content when compared to the eight percent of IRA tweets that were related to the election in the U.S.

Russia exploited American social media as part of its concerted effort to disrupt U.S. energy markets and influence domestic energy policy.

The IRA targeted pipelines, fossil fuels, climate change, and other divisive issues to influence public policy in the U.S.

Former Secretary of State and then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, with access to intelligence reports, made a private speech in 2014, according to documents from WikiLeaks, which included statements about the struggles of dealing with Russian-backed environmental groups. According to a media report, Secretary Clinton said the following: “We [the State Department and the U.S.] were up against Russia pushing oligarchs and others to buy media. We were even up against phony environmental groups, and I’m a big environmentalist, but these were funded by the Russians to stand against any effort, ‘Oh that pipeline, that fracking, that whatever will be a problem for you,’ and a lot of the money supporting that message was coming from Russia.”

Pipelines and domestic energy infrastructure were a primary target of the Russian agents. Specifically, several posts encouraged protests of pipeline construction, which is illustrative of the Kremlin’s indiscriminate efforts to influence U.S. energy policy. Numerous posts, for example, directly targeted the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL). The posts emphasized and exacerbated the alleged violent nature of the DAPL protests. Additionally, several Russian posts focused on the counter-narrative and sought to exploit anti-activist sentiment by propagating content supportive of pipeline construction efforts, illustrating once again the Kremlin's indiscriminate efforts to cause discord and disruption.

WTF Great Britain???

Two Britain First members jailed over "religiously harassing" four muslims convicted of rape.

"The leader and deputy leader of far-right group Britain First have been found guilty of religiously-aggravated harassment.

Paul Golding, 36, and Jayda Fransen, 32, were arrested over the distribution of leaflets and posting of online videos during a gang-rape trial.

Fransen was convicted of three counts of religiously aggravated harassment. Golding was found guilty of one charge.

Both were jailed at Folkestone Magistrates' Court.

Fransen was handed a 36-week sentence and Golding 18 weeks."

The incident stems from this case where 3 muslim men and a teenager were convicted of brutally gang raping a British teenager, a crime for which they received a 14-year jail sentence (a 7-year for the teen).

And this is why so many Americans snicker and look askance at the politics of our European cousins across the pond who live in a society without First Amendment protections for political speech. Yes, we have crazies and despicable people over here who make a public spectacle of themselves in the town square. We don't jail them for six or nine months. (This is comparable to the prison sentences delivered to convicted car thieves or second degree felony assault btw).

But you also shouldn't go to jail for calling a Muslim rapist a Muslim racist.

It seems they applied that epithet rather more broadly, to a range of local Muslims, targeting their homes.....Note that the judge threw out three of the charges, no doubt those were the homes of the actual defendants in the rape trial.

During their trial in January, the court heard they had targeted homes and people in Kent whom they believed were connected to a rape trial at Canterbury Crown Court where three Muslim men and a teenager were convicted of rape and jailed.

My emphasis added.

Judge Justin Barron threw out three of the charges, while Fransen was found guilty of three and Golding of one.

Surprised they didn't get done for attempting to pervert the course of justice too, if they did this during the trial.

It's not half as funny as the fact that YOUR FUCKING PRESIDENT was tweeting out these wankers' propaganda!

D'you reckon that might have been a factor in their harsh treatment at all.....You know, to save our friends from embarrassment?

Pharma Bro gets 7 years in prison.

"A jury returned a mixed verdict against the notorious felon last August, convicting him of defrauding investors in a series of his hedge funds, MSMB Capital and MSMB Healthcare.

The government claimed he’d also looted his drug company Retrophin to pay back the investors after he lost their money in a bad trade. He was acquitted of that allegation."

This is the scoundrel that drove up the price of a drug used to treat the compromised immune systems of HIV patients and some pregnant  women by 5000 percent.

It's a pity he didn't get the full 15 years.

TELLER COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - Authorities discovered human skull in Teller County on Friday near a popular hiking trail.

The Teller County Sheriff's Office says the partial skeletal remains were found off of the Ring The Peak Trail near the Catamount Reservoir, just west of Green Mountain Falls.

"We received a call from a hiker around 5 this afternoon ... that they had found a human skull. When we arrived, that hiker led us to a location about a mile off this trail, and indeed we did find a human skull," said Cmdr. Greg Couch with the sheriff's office.

Couch said he believes there's more to the remains than just the skull, possibly concealed by snow.

"There’s some other bone pieces out there but that is it that we can see right now. There’s a little snow cover in the area that might reveal some other things, but right now we just have those couple of things.”

The investigation is being treated as a homicide until evidence can rule that possibility out. Investigators are now trying to cross check any missing persons reports, including one for a woman last seen in the area last fall.

"Her vehicle was picked up in this area back in October," Couch said, cautioning that it was way too early to know if that case was related to the grisly findings Friday.

"We have no idea at this point," he said.

A large team of investigators will be working at the site and surrounding areas Saturday.

"In a crime scene like this where you may have scattered pieces of evidence over a large area, it's always good to have a lot of help," Couch said. "We will completely go over the scene with a fine-toothed comb, collect all the evidence, then it will be detectives following up on what they learn from the coroner."

Investigators are expected to be at the scene for a couple of days. The stretch of Ring the Peak near the Catamount Reservoirs will be closed to recreational users.
