Can't say for sure, but big part of SU-30s are indeed in Naval Airforces hands.

It will be interesting to see what the expeditionary capabilities of the Russian military are; how many troops and weapons they can shift and support overseas, and how quickly.

 

Hmmm... doesn't the Russian Navy operate some variants of SU-24 and SU-25?  Perhaps all the Russian forces so far in Syria are Navy.

There are so many oaths and allegiances between Islamic groups to really keep track of. Many of these seem to result in splintering of the oath-giving group.  

 

I hope not, but I'd imagine that Russia's more direct involvement will likely result in a number of Chechens returning to Russia and carrying out attacks there.

They can't return, they will be killed or arrested pretty quickly. Thats why radical Chechens started to move to Ukraine, during active phase of conflict and not Russia.
