Zadlo got a reaction from Beer in General AFV Thread
But has problems with material aging instead of 5xxx and 6xxx series.

Zadlo got a reaction from Laviduce in Main Ground Combat System (MGCS) and Euro Main Battle Tank (EMBT)
That's 130mm but according to other Rheinmetall's patent the case of 130mm is only longer than one in 120mm, not wider. So it seems that turret without add-on armor could be quite small.
Nexter has shown turret with 140mm and autoloader in own patent. And it looks like this.

Zadlo reacted to Jägerlein in The Leopard 2 Thread
And because I stumbled across it, here the versions which will be in german service:
Leopard 2 A5 (@ Gefechts Übungs Zentrum)
Leopard 2 A6 MA2 (@ DE/NL PzBtl. 414)
Leopard 2 A6 A3 (brought to the same operating concept as A7 as a preparation for the switch to A7)
Leopard 2 A7 (Addition V gets removed like Rico said).
The first two A7V are converted A7 while the remaining 18 A7 will be the last ones to be upgraded. The A4 conversions of the A4 started this yearand will take untill
2023 - the turrets are (re)build in Kassel and this is the bottleneck of the industries capacity. Untill 2019 they were busy with 62 A7+ for Katar and in 2023 it is planned
to start with the order of 44 A7+ for Hungary.
The upgrade for the 2 A6MA3s will start in 2023 and will be finished in 2026.

Zadlo got a reaction from Beer in Fucking NERA everywhere
I've found some interesting issue
People from Polish Institute of Organic Industry (IPO) have shown how important is front plate in protection against shaped charges. The liner loses the most of its energy in first 30% to 35% of its route in the armor.
And because of that the best is when the front plate is made of material which has the best protection against shaped charges and is as thick as it's possible.
In this case there were two arrays of metal (Ti-Al) composite tested. Both of them had the same weight but one version (V1) had thick (10mm) titanium layer on the face. The second one (V2) had this layer on the rear.
The research has shown that V1 has better mass (Em = 2.04) and thickness efficiency (Ev = 1.55) than V2 (Em = 1.4; Ev = 1.15) against shaped charges.
Composites alone had:
- V1 - Em = 4.26, Ev = 2.14
- V2 - Em = 2.84, Ev = 1.43

Zadlo got a reaction from Militarysta in StuG III Thread (and also other German vehicles I guess)
But there's one problem.
Elbit's UT30MK2 hasn't passed climatic tests for Romanian army. Its FCS is going crazy in low temperature so this problem concerns also a MT30MK2 offered for Czechia.

Zadlo reacted to Serge in Britons are in trouble
He asked about the metal panel bolted over the turret. On the legacy turret, you don’t have such a panel.
With the Rheinmetall turret, the half front is covered by separated plates. This « skin » is interesting because it makes options integration easier.

Zadlo reacted to Gun Ready in The Leopard 2 Thread
Coming back to the old German specification for armour steel (TL 2350-0001): The allocation to hardness is the following
A, R and D 250 to 300
B 310 to 360
C 340 to 390
E 400 to 450
X 370 to 420
W 400 to 450
V 440 to 490
L 250 to 300
Now @Wiedzmin you can perform the analysis for the old Leopard 2 AV.
