Jeeps_Guns_Tanks
This was on Foxtrotalfa today! https://youtu.be/CcmE7QI1WZY Mega woody time!! There is another video there, a longer one with interviews with the pilots, one of whom was Bob Odegard, just about a year before his death in one of only two, then flying Super Corsairs. Sturgeon
Thank goodness they don't let anyone young and reckless fly the things!
Collimatrix
Just a PAK-FA doing PAK-FA things: You can in this shot that, while Sukhoi's claimed RCS for the aircraft is still much larger than the F-22 (but still much smaller than the eurocanards or super hornet), the aircraft was designed with a lot of attention to stealth; even at some expense of aerodynamic efficiency. The horizontal stabilizers are directly in line with the wings. This means that the horizontal stabs are less effective, because they are masked by the wings. However, it does mean that, directly from the front, they do not contribute to the RCS of the aircraft. The weapons bays also have planform-aligned "sawtooth" edges, as on the F-22 and J-20. You can also see the complex shape of the blend between the engine nacelles, landing gear bays and fuselage. The shape of this blend is likely area-ruled. The air inlets are an interesting study. The PAK-FA is using a traditional diverter design, albeit planform-aligned for stealth reasons. All the new Chinese fighter designs, J-10B, J-20, J-31 and even the lowly JF-17 use diverterless supersonic intakes. The grilles on the bottom of the intakes are curious. Are these part of the variable-geometry intake system the PAK-FA is supposed to have? Belesarius and LoooSeR

There is another video there, a longer one with interviews with the pilots, one of whom was Bob Odegard, just about a year before his death in one of only two, then flying Super Corsairs. Fun fact: if you play that video together with this song, you instantly get a perfect music video (note: works with nearly any song)

Xlucine
Tsybin RS Strike Aircraft (predecessor to RSR reconaissance design) Features include; Nuclear weapon attached at tail 2 x Ramjet engines, with booster rockets used for takeoff Some sort of weird beryllium alloy used in construction Active cooling system utilizing propane gas Pressurization of internal structure to reduce empty weight Mass ratio of ~4 (ridiculously high for a manned aicraft) Obviously, it was never built. that is one of the most glorious designs I've ever heard of

Belesarius
Not strictly a pic, but didn't want to start a new thread for it. Country is in chaos? No generals around? No safety regulations to weigh you down? How about an INSANELY low pass at very high speed. Fuck buzzing the tower, it's time to clean the barnacles off the bottom of the jet.
