Cheburashka
I have a M41 Walker Bulldog question. When using only the auxiliary engine(generator): Could the turret power traverse be used? What are others systems that could be used(heating, etc)
ZloyKrolik
I don't know about the M41, but in M48 & M60 series, the heater was a separate unit from the engine. It was mounted in the front of the hull in the drivers compartment on M60s. The heater exhaust is the pipe on the right side of the tank, over the front fender. Cheburashka
Why weren't light tanks like the M24 and M41 equiped with smoke grenade launchers from the start? Seems like reconnaissance light tanks like this would benefit greatly from them. Germans and Brits seemed to use them on some lighter vehicles

Renegade334
Not looking too shabby at all. Wonder if they do take it out for a spin every once in a while, if only for preventative maintenance?
CimaGarahau
Looks like the 120mm L/56 gun tube, the 140mm gun tube bore evacuator is way longer and goes past the engine deck when the turret is turned to the rear E.g. the CATTB bore evacuator, on Thumper's case the 140mm gun tube received a paint job. Maybe they're taking it out to test some new things? Thumper started it's life as the ATAC System Demonstrator and in 1993 got renamed to ATAS ATD. According to some documents the ATAS ATD also tested the 140mm gun tube, which explains why some editions of Weapons Systems shows a photo of Thumper firing the 140mm. Despite what is said, the following photo shows the 140mm gun tube which was tested remotely. Photos of the ATAS ATD turret (Thumper): Spoiler The firing load of 370,000 pounds is similar to the firing load of the 140mm gun tube installed on the CATTB (375,000 pounds) Ramlaen, Clan_Ghost_Bear and Laviduce
