   Surovikin specified that the VKS inflicted 329 hits on the IS in the Akerbat area and destroyed 27 armored vehicles and 48 pick-up trucks with large-caliber weapons.    The commander of the Russian group of forces in Syria added that militants in the Arkebat area used an unprecedented number of suicide bombers and "jihadmobiles."

   "The units of the Fourth Armored Division completed the defeat of the main forces of the ISIL group (the outdated name of the IS-TASS commentary) in the vicinity of the city of Akerbat, with the capture of it the terrorists now are blocked. They used the unprecedented the number of suicide bombers, and 15 to 25 fighters with "shahid belts" and four or five "jihadmobiles" [VBEDs] were destroyed daily. All the approaches to the city were strewn with mines, " said Surovikin.

 

   "We have won a battle over terrorist groups in the area of the city of Deir ez Zor, exceeding in its significance and scale all previous victories, which the Syrian people have been waiting for more than three years," Rudskoy said.
   As the commander of the Russian group of forces in Syria, Colonel-General Sergei Surovikin, said, "during the counteroffensive of General Suhel and the defenders of Deir-ez-Zor, under the command of General Zakhreddin from the encirclement ring, the militants' defense was breached on a 3 km wide section." "This night the corridor was expanded into two," the general added.
   According to him, the average rate of offensive of government troops under the command of General Hasan Suhela in the last three days was 15-20 or more kilometers per day.
   Surovikin added that another group of Syrian troops had approached the city from the side of Ess-Sukhney and now is storming the fortifications of bandit formations on the outskirts of Deir ez Zor. The offensive of pro-government forces to Deir ez Zor from the south along the Euphrates River is also developing.
