   Aircraft protection against missiles with optical (thermal) homing heads, such as 9M37 Strela-10, P-73, AIM-9 Sidewinder, AIM-132 ASRAAM, is provided with a barrier radar. The barrier radar detects an attacking missile, determines its coordinates (bearing and range) and issues a command to shoot false thermal targets.
