   The explosion of an IED planted under the bottom of the car killed the mufti of Damascus and the province of the same name, Sheikh Mohammed Adnan Al-Afyuy. The incident took place in Qudsaya (a suburb in the northwest of the Syrian capital). Who is behind the attack is unknown.

   Al-Afyuy, in addition to his religious activities, was the head of the international Islamic center for countering extremism "Al-Sham", opened by Bashar al-Assad in 2019.
