I must say that this is just a guess, but these personnel from Syria might first pictures of a detachment of IRGC light infantry, not just advisers \ instructors. At the very least very similar to Iranian standard light infantry - motorcyclists and Safir  SUVs with a 106 mm recoilless rifles, 107mm rocket launcher units and towed 120-mm mortars. All soldiers wear standart uniforms and bodyarmor.

Syrian Army Captures Ghammam and Bakdash Mountains in Northern Latakia

http://www.almasdarnews.com/article/news-alert-syrian-army-captures-ghammam-and-bakdash-mountains-in-northern-latakia/

One week after capturing and then losing the strategic town of Ghammam in northern Latakia, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade of the Republican Guard – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Qurdaha, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), and Muqawama Souri (Syrian Resistance) – have imposed full control over this town after intense firefights with the Islamist rebels from the Free Syrian Army’s “1st Coastal Brigade” and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra.”

The Syrian Armed Forces launched this counter-assault on Friday morning after reinforcements from Jabal Al-Akrad (Kurdish Mountains) arrived to help their comrades push north towards the heart of Jabal Turkmen (Turkmen Mountains); these reinforcements proved integral, as the Syrian Armed Forces were able to impose full control over this town along the Latakia-Aleppo Highway (M-4 Highway).

In addition to their success at Ghammam in Jabal Turkmen, the Syrian Armed Forces imposed full control over the mountaintop that overlooks the aforementioned town; this small mountaintop in Jabal Turkmen is also known as “Jabal Bakdash.”

According to a military source inside the Latakia Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade led the assault on Jabhat Al-Nusra’s positions at Jabal Bakdash, killing over 15 enemy combatants and seizing 3 armored vehicles mounted with anti-aircraft machine guns before the aforementioned Islamist group retreated north towards Deir Hanna.

These two sites are strategically located along the Latakia-Aleppo Highway that leads to the rebel stronghold of Jisr Al-Shughour; this aforementioned city is the gateway to the Idlib Governorate.

Al-Ikhbariya report about Syrian Airforces.

http://youtu.be/OMEEBxb_j1M

Russian 1st Channel report.

SyAF conducted a tour for journalists on the airbase near Hama, showing some of the best fighters of the Syria (after MiG-29) - the MiG-23MLD. These fighters were not exported by the Soviet Union and Syria bought those planes from storages in Belarus in 2008. Clearly visible vortex generating "Fang" at the base of the wing - one of the main external features of this version of the MiG-23.

It may be noted that the air cover MiG-23MLD are equipped with standard anti-aircraft weapons - "air to air" medium-range R-23 \ R-24R missiles and short-range R-60 missiles. MiG-21 and earlier versions of the MiG-23 are doing sorties to bomb targets using bombs on hardpoints.

Another interesting point about which said in a report of the First Channel, in an acute shortage of ammunition, the Syrians have developed their own production of high-explosive bombs for aircraft in small workshops.

Battle for Southern Aleppo Reaches Critical Stages: Syrian Army and Hezbollah Prepare to Storm Al-Hadher

http://www.almasdarnews.com/article/battle-for-southern-aleppo-reaches-critical-stages-syrian-army-and-hezbollah-prepare-to-storm-al-hadher/

The battle for southern Aleppo has become the bloodiest fight taking place around all of Syria, as Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City and several Iraqi paramilitary units – attempt to advance inside the Islamist rebel stronghold of Al-Hadher.

On Friday morning, the Syrian Army’s 4th Mechanized Division and their allies launched several attacks inside the strategic town of Al-Hadher, where they were confronted by a large force comprised of militants from the Free Syrian Army (FSA), the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra”, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham, and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham.

For nearly six hours, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies were engaged in a fierce battle with the Islamist rebels; however, the firefights began to dissipate when the Russian and Syrian Air Forces emerged to bombard Jabhat Al-Nusra and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham’s defensive positions inside of Al-Hadher.

While the battle intensifies in Al-Hadher, the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, and Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham conducted their own counter-assault near the imperative town of Khan Touman, resulting in the capture of two small hilltops at the southern countryside of Al-Qarassi; this aforementioned town is located east of Khan Touman.

In conjunction with the large number of battles taking place in southern Aleppo, there has also been a high number of casualties for both side; this was confirmed by a military source operating inside the Syrian government stronghold of Al-Safira in southeastern Aleppo.

According to this military source, the Syrian Armed Forces have suffered 51 casualties in southern Aleppo this week, while their Iranian allies have lost a total of 14 soldiers – he was unable to confirm the death toll for the Iraqi paramilitary units and the enemy combatants; however, he added that the number of enemy combatants killed is likely just as high or even higher than the reported numbers for the Syrian Armed Forces.

Al-Manar sources: Syrian army controls the village of Kfar-Haddad, south of Al-Khader in the south of Aleppo.

Syrian Army Kills the Lead Field Commander of Al-Nusra in Southern Aleppo Amid the Capture of Kafr Haddad

http://www.almasdarnews.com/article/syrian-army-kills-the-lead-field-commander-of-al-nusra-in-southern-aleppo-amid-the-capture-of-kafr-haddad/

On Friday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Aleppo City, Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalion), and several Iraqi paramilitaries – imposed full control over the imperative village of Kafr Haddad after a series of intense firefights with the Islamist rebels from Harakat Ahrar al-Sham, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra”, and Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham.

With the capture of Kafr Haddad, the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance are within 25km of the imperative rebel stronghold of Saraqib in the Idlib Governorate and 30km east of the predominately Shi’i towns of Al-Fou’aa and Kafraya. [I posted about 10-11 VBIED attack and battalion worth of terrorists assault on those 2 towns in one of the first pages of this thread]

Following the successful capture of Kafr Haddad by the Syrian Armed Forces and Lebanese Resistance, the news of Jabhal Al-Nusra’s lead field commander “Abu ‘Ameer” death was revealed by the aforementioned Islamist group, marking the conclusion of a disastrous day.

According to social media activists from Jabhat Al-Nusra, Abu ‘Ameer’s real name is Faysal Shareef; however, they did not reveal anymore information regarding his identity, only sorrowful messages honoring this Al-Qaeda affiliated  leader.

Field reports from the Aleppo Governorate’s southern countryside revealed that many more Islamist rebels from Jabhat Al-Nusra, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki, and Liwaa Suqour Al-Sham were killed during Friday’s firefights, including several foreign fighters from both sides.

Syrian Army Advances on the Ancient City of Palmyra as Reinforcements Pour into the East Homs Countryside

Six months ago, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched their large-scale offensive at the ancient city of Palmyra, seizing it from Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the National Defense Forces (NDF) in a matter of four days.

Despite a number of attempts to retake this historical desert-city from the terrorist group’s possession, the Syrian Armed Forces have been relatively unsuccessful in this military endeavor, as they have been unable to break-through ISIS’ defenses at the northern and western flanks of Palmyra.

On Friday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s 67th Brigade of the 18th Tank Division – in coordination with Kataebat Al-Ba’ath (Al-Ba’ath Battalions) and the National Defense Forces of Homs City advanced from the eastern groves of Al-Bayarat to the Palmyra Drivers School after a week of intense firefights with the ISIS terrorists.

North of Palmyra, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Panther Brigades” (Tiger Forces ) conducted military operations along the seasonal road from the town of Jazal to Palmyra, killing several ISIS terrorists in the process.

The northern flank of Palmyra has been the most volatile for the Syrian Armed Forces, as ISIS has launched several attacks on their positions in the Jazal Mountain area.

However, the Syrian Armed Forces in the Palmyra Triangle received a substantial boost on Friday, when a large convoy of reinforcements arrived at the T-4 Airport in order to participate in the upcoming Palmyra offensive that is only in its preliminary stages.

The Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai reported, citing "a senior source in the joint operational headquarters in Damascus," the details of the organization of the current military operations in the territory of the SAR.

A source said: "The Russian air force quickly perform strikes asked by ground forces, while continuing to strike targets from co-created database. Database is constantly updated - both by electronic surveillance, monitoring the Internet, aerial photography, and thanks to the efforts of the government agents which are embedded in almost all the rebel groups and units. "

The source said that in the operational headquarters are working together Syrian, Iranian and Russian generals, as well as representatives of the "Hezbollah"/Al-Mukomawa high command. According to a source critically important task - to "unlock" the Hama-Aleppo highway near Ihtiriya-Hanassir was entrusted to brigade of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard numbering one thousand troops and Al-Mukomawa units. The operation was carried out with the direct support of the Russian aviation. Russian Su-30s and Syrian MiG-29s patroled Syrian airspace in order to prevent interference of foreign countries Aviation (Americans and Israelis), while on the battlefield worked Su-24 and Su-25. As a result of the successful offensive, the Iranians and "Hezbollah" managed to re-take the road to Aleppo and restored government control over the strategically important areas of the territory of 25 square kilometers.

In Syria acts Liwa al-Sayyed Shuhada Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps [it is actually not part of IRGC, but Iraqi militia]. It reached 4 thousand people and continues to grow. Brigade units are operating in different parts of Syria. The Iranian presence in Syria will only increase as the Iran believes that battle with the Islamic State is one of its own national security priorities. The source stressed: "It is much easier to fight against extremists in the land of Sham than wait until they attack our own home - Iran."

The source stressed: "It is a complete, all-round cooperation between the military level of Syria, Russia, Iran and "Hezbollah". Everyone feels himself as a member of a homogeneous team that depends on trust in each other on the battlefield, and everyone knows his duty. Even when it comes to failure, the parties are not trying to shift the blame on each other, but on the contrary, together analyze errors in order to achieve better results in this long battle. Russia provides all that is needed without delay. It is assumed that the intensification of war on all fronts, the Russian planes will make hundreds of combat sorties per day. "
